Looking to buy a gravel/road ebike (or is it a hybrid?)

I live in a mountainous area of Los Angeles (Calabasas) and have been using my Trek F3 to go up and down roads with 3000' feet elevation and about 25-30 miles. I'm a 63 year old male 5'10" about 200lbs and in ok shape but looking to make the rides a little easier on the aging frame of mine and also allowing me to take a turn off the road on occasion to ride some of the fire roads I pass but think the tires and suspension on my Trek are not good enough.

Anyone been in the same place as me and/or willing to give me some good pointers to make life a little easier and perhaps even more enjoyable?

Thank you!!

Clive

They only seem to be available in a few places any more (they are discontinued), and only in the smaller of the 2 originally available sizes, but I have found the Raleigh Tamland iE to be an awesome road and gravel bike. Tires are large enough for a reasonable ride off the pavement, but are still efficient on the street. Combined with a Redshift suspension stem and a suspension seatpost (many choices available there) it is a very comfortable ride on many different surfaces. An incredibly enjoyable and efficient bike - puts a big smile on my face whenever I ride it.

Clive …
If you are satisfied with your Trek F3, my suggestion is that you start your search at a Trek dealer.

Be prepared for sticker shock. The Trek F3 is an inexpensive bike and its equivalent in the ebike world will quite likely have a motor which on its own costs as much as the F3, a battery (ditto) and, of course, the frame itself. Three times the cost! Go try Trek's offerings and then try alternatives elsewhere.

Almost everyone on the EBR Forum will give you the same advice: Go ride a range of ebikes!
