Looking for a new e-bike - need suggestions

I think I finally found a great bike. A Specialized Como. Won't get it for a few weeks, but can't wait to try it out. The shop didn't have any for me to take for a test ride, but they had a Vado, (?) and they said they were very similar. Very quiet, seamless transition from one pas to the next. And I love the integrated battery. Can't wait to get it.

awesome bike, no throttle
but I love that brose motor

bet you will love the como

let us know how it goes
Thank you Vincent, I will. The manger of the shop convinced me not to get a bike with a throttle, as he feels that some day soon, the bikes with throttles will require a license and will be restricted on many trails.

I like the specialized brose bikes but serious doubt throttles are going to be restricted or licensed anytime soon lol

the federal 3 class set up allows throttles on class 2, my guess is most states will follow this - the problem is cities/counties and different park management can restrict ebikes period

the class 2 throttle bikes go no faster than the Como

I have a RAD City Step-thru, (750 watt, 48 volt, 14aH), and a Electra Townie (400watt, 11 aH) I like them both but not thrilled with either of them. Rad has too much power in level 1 so I get no exercise, and the Townie is a slog getting up steep hills. Trying to find the "perfect" bike. Well, I know there is no such thing as a perfect bike, but am still searching for something that I can say I LOVE. Am in Canada, so need something available HERE. Need to have a step-thru, and I want to have a throttle. Can anyone suggest a bike that might meet my requirements? Thanks!
Have you tested any mid-drive ebikes? Cause mid-drive ebikes are night and day compared to rear hub-drive ebikes. My wife has the Haibike Sduro Radius Tour and she loves it, compared to her rear hub Rad city step-thru which she also hated for the same reasons as you. I installed a suspension seatpost (Suntour NCX) and a tuning chip from https://www.ebay.com/itm/PearTune-MSO-Max-Speed-Off-Yamaha-Syncdrive-Pedelec-E-Bike-Tuning/112208437252 and removed the "artificial" 20mph limit and she can do up to 28mph now. The only thing it does not have from your list is the throttle... but she was ecstatic to see it gone as she hated the throttle on the Rad anyways. Throttle or no throttle I suggest that you try test driving some mid drive ebikes. You would be blown away about the difference with rear-hub motors, and how much like a real bike it feels and how much more exercise you can get on the different levels without that weird feel of rear-hub ebikes.

I know that it looks like a lot at list price $CAN 3900 but you can get great sale deals like the one she got during black friday for 50% off.

I looked at and tried the Como 2.0 great bike and I was all set to buy the Como 5.0 and then changed to the Evelo Aurora Loaded. The Brose on the Como feels very much like riding a regular bicycle very natural. Good luck and have fun!

Thanks Keith, so glad to hear others say it is a great bike!

I am buying the Specialized Turbo Como 4.0 650b - Low Step. I tried both of the bikes you own. I have tried several ebikes and this was the one!!! It assists you at the level you pedal. It takes hills like a boss. Good luck with your adventure. https://www.specialized.com/us/en/turbo-como-4-0-650b--low-entry/p/170298?color=264380-170298
Thank you TaraBara!!! Love to hear great info like that. I haven't received my bike yet, but should pretty soon. Can't wait to get it! Have fun with yours!!! :)

If you are looking for comfort that Trek is VERY comfortable. My wife and I rented one to see if we liked electric bikes. We both felt it was extremely comfortable. The seating position, the seat, the handlebars, the grips. VERY cruiser like. It was not as fast as the EGlide which we got. I just looked at my Ride with GPS data. It was about 3-4 mph slower than the EGlide. But it was still fast enough! I tend to have a speed obsession.
