Lady cyclist killed in Davis involving juvenile on ebike...on the bike path.

They have allowed the mass sale of these bikes and are now blaming kids for riding them.
Its the same for scooters, you can buy them in high end retail outlets over here with wink wink, offroad only.
An interesting issue is social media bans for kids at the same time as banning their ebikes, they have grown up on both and theres going to be a lot of young men looking for other ways to vent off.

The biochemical rewards of riding a pedal bicycle are huge. Heart rate, endorphins, dopamine, serotonin, being in the zone. It is so much better than video games and more addictive. Maybe the kids should ride a bike.
So true.... But managing pure power does much of the same.
Not a reason to ride it recklessly... but a real trip all in itself.
There's absolutely no reason to have to choose one over the other.

So all 23m iphones in the UK will now require age verification to access the app store, which is just a sneaky way of assuring compliance by stealth, because obviously you will need to download app updates like your banking or Specialized app ..oh and Android are preventing non app store downloads.
Coming to the world very soon, and we are looking at unrepairable mobiles with encrypted spare parts ID and remote bricking on theft.
How long before your new ebike goes into limp mode if you ignore dealer servicing and the bikes require ID to switch them on..to protect the children, which is exactly the excuse they are using for mobiles...young kids are groomed into phone theft.
We cant be bothered chasing the criminals so we are going to make mobiles worthless.
So the Fagan gangs will find a new thing to steal.
Maybe good old Brazillian hostage taking?

I ditched my 'smart' phone over five-years-ago. No privacy. Constant tracking. Poor time management. Distraction. It was hard for a day. Then it was so much better.

I truly believe a movement will start to back away from the internet, by their own admission the tech is bad for children, and now its bad for adults.
I didnt have it for forty years of my life and those were the best days Ive lived, I doom scroll constantly, tracked monitored, listened to, brainwashed by algorithms, an endless electronic leash that I have now been conditioned to be terrified of losing.
WTF has happened to us?

Privacy on the Internet has been non-existent for decades. Browser cookies were invented in 1994. Google, Facebook/Meta, Amazon, Apple, and Microsoft all have databases on you even you don't have an account on their systems. If you think they don't already know your birthdate, where you live, and what your hobbies are, you are kidding yourself.

I was wondering what the ebike laws were in Russia and came across a 2024 Reuters article on new escooter legislation.

A lot of reference to drunkeness 🤣

The first of three readings of the legislation, which would fine drunk riders up to 30,000 roubles ($340) and speedsters up to 5,000 roubles ($55), passed last week. Fines would also target multiple riders on a single scooter, transporting a child on a scooter and refusing a medical examination.
Since the start of this year, authorities have logged more than two-and-a-half times the number of incidents involving scooters compared to a year earlier, Volodin said.
Numerous Russian videos online show collisions involving scooters, and stories of other mishaps, including a culture ministry official being beaten in 2021 by a group of drunk men angered that he was riding a scooter on the pavement.

And that's why I have multiple emails and aliases just for these reasons. Never use/give my actual DOB or any other personal information to anyone that doesn't really need it. Banking, business and medical are separate from anything social/shopping. My Facebook account still has an email address that was discontinued by the provider 20 years ago. My serious accounts never get spam.
Whenever you get a new device the first thing you need to do is go thru the settings and disable everything. Then as you add accounts, do the same. Not fool proof but I see no reason to hand over the information willingly and the data bases that are out there will have multiple conflicting bits of info on me.
Catch me if you can. . . 🙃

DOGE stole all your info anyway...

I'm not sure I even exist? . . .

My customers typically have to know someone who knows someone by underground word of mouth. Speaking of 'STOLE', by the way, that would be a great acronym for a policy act with the "T" being Tax. When I was four I first heard the gospel song, 'Put your hand-in-the-hand of the man who steals the waters." The worst was "Open Up Your Heart and Let The Sunshine In". I took it literally. Why would a thief who steals waters be like an Aztec priest who opens up your heart with a jade axe on top of a sunny pyramid to let the sun shine in?

I find the whole age verification moral panic to be hilarious. And watching people who don't have a clue and no ability to think things through make a mess of things.

It seems that a lot of the "age verification" laws missed the boat and by implication require age verification of systems with no clearly identifiable human users. So things like remotely operated cloud servers, embedded systems, and even containerized applications might all require age verification. I'm having a good laugh imagining people having to age-verify their thermostats and espresso makers...

Interestingly enough, the VA prison(good old boy network) started allowing some watered down cyber devices vended on the"canteen or commissary if you will" along with their substandard over priced junk and goods( who is the thief
here?) then after they let me (sorta) go,you couldn't send any money to anybody in the system unless you used"Jpay" with a hefty service charge at that, as you were referencing the greatest time waster in the world, thought I would add that quip[ the "prince" of the power of the air] if Paul wasn't referring to this cyber or electronic muck up I would say the Bible loses a lot of credibility for you non believers simply ,look around.

So my thermostat and espresso maker are 12 and 7 years old respectively.... Do I need to do anything? 🙃
