So we shouldn't have *any* laws at all? How would that work.

Posts like these demonstrate eloquently why our society is so broken. It isn't because of entitled kids, either.

70 some years ago, when I was in grade school, a classmate had a minibike that he would ride on the street all over the neighborhood. The cops caught up with him one day and put the minibike in the trunk of the police cruiser. They took the kid & bike to the station where he was made to wait in the office, not behind bars, until a parent came to pick him up. Both his folks worked so it was quite a wait. When the father finally showed up, partly as punishment, he told the police to keep the bike instead of paying the hefty fine.

I don't see why a variation of this routine wouldn't work today.

nope, it’s not. it’s because of selfish adults who equate laws which define public responsibility to tyranny. it’s ok, i’m sure they’ll all be just fine building their own complete societies, roads and electricity and all, with their bare hands once this one collapses. they’re all self made men!

I have no problem with confiscating property used in a crime as long as there is due process. I don't have a use for drug dealers, but I dislike the current asset forfeiture laws that allow police to seize cash, cars, and other property from someone just suspected of committing a crime.

I sorta identify as "libertine" not to the extent of anarchy,however a lot of these supposed govt services are paid for make no mistake,near me you pay for communication,water sewer,the amount of runoff your roof ,etc.
while I was doing my tour in the "Governors school for the gifted"(prison) a English professor related to me how the "wild west" really was-people got along because it was of necessity,only becoming real chaotic when a rich rancher or landowner acquired enough money to hire a "bully" called the "Sheriff"(sorta makes sense-I doubt if it was exactly like "Lonesome Dove" btw Gus is my hero.

I don't think the cash is ever returned in most cases,if you have the misfortune(or fortune) of carrying a lot of cash its an automatic "redflag"( forget about due process,the presumption of innocence is a myth)
