The new owner review was with a 1000W motor. He also uses a throttle (with limited warranty coupled with 1000W).
Technically Rohloff works with very high torque - e.g. on a tandem bike you can do 220 / 250NM. However with humans, the torque has a good rampup, and is geared correctly. The issue with the bafang throttle is that the current throttle doesn't "ramp up" the torque smoothly, so the rohloff gets hit with all 160NM at the same time. (As a reference, with the 750W motor, throttle is capped at 120NM, which is within the acceptable range).
There is a custom solution I am working on, but it is not ready yet. As it becomes available, I will be able to certify the rohloff with the throttle for the 1000W version, and will make it available as a retrofit option for our current bikes. There will be a cost associated with that option (needs custom parts etc) but if someone really wants 1000W with rohloff and a throttle, that will be a great one to get.
