Just for fun...

This is in the Guardian today, there seems to be an ongoing policy to remove all humour and satire from a once powerful artform.
They call these opinion cartoons.

Someone posted an impressive photo of an airliner flying low, with the City of Warsaw in the background. In fact, the jet was flying far away from the city centre but Warsaw Chopin Airport is indeed within the city limits. This is a foreshortening achieved with a long telephoto lens.

The viral photo.

I wonder whether the users without a Facebook account can view this Reel?
A proof the viral photo was not a fake.

Certainly a kernel of truth here, but it IS a caricature. I sometimes ride with a group of 50-80-something roadies — all very nice folks who LOVE cycling and in most cases have been doing it avidly for decades.

True, lots of fancy weigh-nothing (unmotorized) road bikes and sponsor-covered lycra. But it's still about the joy of cycling for them, and that's what counts.

As in the video, you'd never take many of them for any kind of athlete, but they can still outride me all day long — and that's with low-medium assist on my part. And no, the assist isn't just making up for my 10 kg of extra bike weight.

So true parody, so true... :D
It is slightly better in our gravel cycling community. We usually form no clubs, it might be a group but not the peloton. Many riders on group rides travel solo. No one looks down on weaker riders: it is all about the adventure.

Moreover, gravel cyclists rather don't shave their legs, do not wear snowy white shoes or socks, and clip in SPD MTB not SPD-SL road pedals. Why they need the "clipless" system still remains a mystery to me. I could see many clipless riders crash because of that system.

I was observing an experienced female rider on one of our group trips. She used to unclip her foot well before any possible stop. What if she had to stop unexpectedly though?
