Intermittent loss of speedo/ odo

Elderly neighbor recently purchased an online etrike. I installed the front wheel, plugged in the motor.
Right from the first ride, occasionally the speedo/ odo would read 0 while riding. After 5 min or so, system would power down.
Other times, everything working properly. At least once, the speedo/ odo started working, while I was riding.
The other day I charged the battery (took 3 hrs with 2A charger), and for about 4 or 5 power up's since then, everything has worked fine.
This doesn't sound to me like a simple low battery issue. More like a bad connection somewhere, or Hall sensor.
For now, I'll monitor it, but I feel this issue isn't resolved!

Any thoughts?

It sounds like a speed sensor is dropping out on you. Does it have a magnet fastened to a spoke that goes by a sensor? If so, you may have to adjust so they are a little closer together (1/4" or so). Could also be the electrical connection where that sensor plugs in.

When I got my Ariel Rider C class, I couldn't get any speed reading on the display. Turned out the magnet on the spoke was aimed the wrong way, so I only had to rotate it 180 degrees. Also be sure it is lined up with the sensor.
