I'm interested in buying a Terra Trike Rover i8 because it has an 8 speed (no gears) rear internal hub. I was told by the dealer it can be made into an electric bike. So far I can't find any info as to what the dealer would use to make it work. Any ideas as to what they would use will be greatly appreciated.

He would install a so-called mid-drive kit that would drive the crank, the most common being made by Bafang.

Thanks for your reply - the Terratrike i8 has a square tube not a round tumbler frame! I don't think it will work??

I've heard that the Shimano/Alfine 8-speed hubs don't hold up particularly well. I would ask the person/shop doing the conversion if they would install a GearSensor so that you're not applying high force to the hub when shifting.
