Idea for install battery on the side of rear rack?

Hi,

I'm thinking about converting a bike with a small frame (15in) to an electric one with Bafang. What would be a nice and clean way to install the battery on the side of rear rack? I cannot have it on downpost because of the small frame size. I can't have in on the rear rack because I want to carry around a trailer bike for kid. I think hanging on the side of rear rack would be the best option. What would be the secure clean way? Any example picture?

One of old(?) Currie bikes has the kind of battery that I want. It looks like SLA battery, not Lithium Ion.

Is there a set of a lithium ion battery and a rear rack like this?

You might want to consider modifying a pannier on your rear rack to hold your battery. You could run the wires from the pannier down the seat tube to the motor.

Hi @wjh , Currie Tech does have a couple of variations of a 24V lithium rear rack pack that slides right in where the SLA's used to go. If your Bafang motor system is 36-48V, which is very likely, then the Currie Tech packs won't work. John L.'s idea is doable and there are other rear rack LiIon systems that slide underneath the rack, but then your left to interface with the motor system. Golden Motor, ElectricRider and others have options that will still keep the batteries with a lower center of gravity.

Which Bafang are you looking at? EM3v has a nice 48V triangle pack if that fits. In order to give better guidance it would be helpful to know which bike model and which motor option.what kind of range do you want? 36V packs are going to be smaller. As to mounting on the side, a 48V pack would tend to create a balance problem. More info for better advise? Are you sure the downtime battery won't fit? I could do a tracing and post the measurements. Several bottle types are small. Oh, and there are seat post mounts as well. Google frog battery packs

I attached the spec of the bike. It's 15in frame Trek 7200. It would be great if you could post the detailed measurements of the downpost bottle battery pack including the location of holes of the bracket. Thanks!

By the way, the different motor power is the only difference between BBS02 and BBS01? If that's the case, BBS01 may be fine for me.
