How Supply Chain Challenges Are Still Impacting the E-Bike World – What’s Getting Better?

I wanted to open up a conversation about something I think a lot of us have been affected by in the past few years – supply chain delays in the electric bike industry.

Whether you're a buyer, DIY builder, or just a fan of the space, you've probably noticed how hard it's been to get certain bike components, battery packs, or even entire e-bike models due to global supply chain issues. It’s been frustrating for both customers and companies.

But here's the thing — I’ve noticed that some brands and suppliers are starting to bounce back. Warehouses are better stocked, shipping times are improving, and there seems to be more availability for parts that were really hard to find in 2021–2022 (like BMS systems, controllers, and displays).

It seems like more companies are working with supply chain partners who help with product sourcing, logistics, and better inventory planning. Especially those who use regional warehouses or have switched to more reliable freight forwarding partners.

Curious to hear from you all:

  • Have you noticed improvements when ordering parts or full bikes?
  • Are certain brands doing better than others with supply chain reliability?
  • Any tips on where to find bulk or hard-to-source e-bike components?

Would love to hear your experiences or any sourcing strategies that have worked for you lately!

Cheers,

You're addressing the wrong audience for supply chain issues. Most of us on this forum just want to buy one ebike, not a container full of them. The rest of us here are individual hobbyists buying a single part,. When we need something. we'll look to see where it's available. If not, we look for something else. It's not a matter of going out of business for us if we cannot get a part.

I've noticed that buying from aliexpress is really fast these days. Five years ago, it was six weeks to get something like a shifter or throttle from China to the USA. Now it's like 5-7 business days, even for something like a motor. I suppose the necessity to tear every package apart for tariffs in the future will change that,

Also a lot of chinese vendors now use amazon. Shipping times are still a lot slower, prices a bit higher than aliexpress, but more buyers are comfortable with amazon,
