How Physically Durable is the External Battery on the 2020 Haibike AllMtn 2.0?

I noticed the outside felt a little plasticy, and the exterior battery usually gets hit. Is this okay, or any precautions to look out for?

Haibike is a high end brand that uses quality parts and components so I wouldn’t worry about the construction of the battery casing.

Not sure what you mean by the battery getting hit as any lithium batteries should not be hit or dropped. Perhaps you mean driving over potholes or rough trails when you’re riding?

If you’re removing the battery and putting the battery back into the frame like a disabled ape you might damage it or the connectors but I assume you’re not doing that. Take precautions and have patience when handling it as if it were a very expensive vase.

In any case the only things you should be worried about with regard to your battery is it being exposed to extreme cold or heat or accidentally dropping it.

Yup, it's actually a child seat that I mounted on the top tube.
There are two bolts that mount it to place.
One is on an external mount that clamps on the top tube with some rubber.
The bottom is under the downtube.
For reference, there should be a 3rd, but it does not fit in any position I put the saddle (unless it is tilted upwards) so I didnt put the 3rd bolt. I tested it and its durable.
I didnt use a torque wrench, but I tightened it "just enough"
No issues so far with battery cover, charging, alignment of battery, etc.
Just wanted to make sure that i can leave it as-is.

So far as the battery is concerned it’s definetly ok and the child seat won’t negatively affect it in any way.

My only concern now if I read it correctly is the third bolt for the child seat. Did you triple check and are very sure that the child seat is 100% secure since you didn’t use the third bolt to fasten it to the top and down tube?

Maybe it would be best to err on the side of caution and tilt it slightly upward so you can be able to use the third bolt so you can have peace of mind knowing the seat is fastened as intended by the manufacturer.

Thanks for your advice.
So far the seat is still okay, and I have been checking it after each ride. So far so good, and nothing looks bad.
I was thinking that worst case scenario, it will just tilt a little bit, but not that it will fall off.
A little afraid to further tighten up the bolts

I can’t tell from the photo. Are the seat mounting brackets making contact with the battery? If they are, I would be concerned that they may result in side loading the battery case when the child “wiggles” around while riding. I would think this could damage the battery case and the battery mount over time.
