Here is a milage stat for the vado sl

I am trying to estimate how far I can go with my vado sl.

For my last two rides I kept the power assist in 'eco' mode. I traveled 41.89 miles and had any elevation gain of 1228 ft.

I averaged 14 mph. I weigh about 213 pounds suited up with helmet, gloves, and riding cloths.

At the end of the first ride the battery was at 71%, at the end of the second ride the battery was at 44%.

It looks like I could get about 60+ miles under similar circumstances.

Has anyone else done a similar test?

I did another 20.41 mile ride this morning in eco assist with an elevation gain of 790 ft, battery strength read 16% at the finish.

I averaged 14 mph over all of the rides.

So in eco assist level my vado sl 5.0 gave me 62.30 miles with an elevation gain of 2018 ft and 16% of the battery left...

Time to put it on the charger!

I got 53 miles on my Vado SL 5 this week. That was on a single charge an there was 14% left in the tank. I was probably riding 50% eco, 45% sport and 5% turbo with 1650' of elevation gain. I weigh 180 lbs. The Specialized claimed 80 mile range was likely achieved with a 100# rider, all downhill and with a tailwind but I'm totally fine with the range I'm getting on my rides. Thanks for sharing your results.

If you go to Mission Control and check ride stats it will tell you precisely your avg assist level and wh used. So you can be much more precise than saying "I rode in Eco" to "I averaged 29% assist". From there you can extrapolate mileage for a full 320 wh or 480 if using range extender.

I am locked into the Garmin world, I have eleven years worth of rides stored in the Garmin Connect Ecosystem. I also feel uneasy toting my phone on my rides...I am clumsy. I have an Apple Watch with cellular for emergencies...

I use the TCD as the bike's display while riding. I track the ride w Mission Control but the phone stays in a bag. I'm not a fan of having my phone mounted on the bar thus I'm replacing the Cobi on my Trek for the Kiox. But having Mission Control for tuning the bike's assist levels and for providing the post-ride stats of avg assist used and wh used is valuable to me. No more guesswork as to how much assist I'm using. Mission Control also auto uploads to Strava although this is the first year I'm centralizing my rides on Strava.

I have a number of presets I created in Mission Control for different types of riding. Some I copied from other Vado SL owners here. I created one for riding with my wife (she is really slow on her Tern Vektron) called "lunch with the wife". My Eco for this preset is 5%/15%. I have a "commute slow" preset that is somewhere around 20%/30% and a "commute fast" preset is around 25%/40% - just for some examples. I went over a number of my recent rides that exceeded 15 miles and which used various presets and I get the following ranges (170lb rider minimal elevation gain):

Today's lunch ride with wife:
15 miles, used 1 WH, average assist under 3% - extrapolate range to 4,800 miles (basically riding as a non-electric)

Other solo rides in order of assist used:
15 miles, used 22 WH, average assist 13% - 220 miles range?
22 miles, used 46 WH, average assist 27% - 150 miles range?
25 miles, used 80 WH, average assist 35% - 100 miles range?
22 miles, used 74 WH, average assist 36% - 96 miles range?

Unfortunately I weight in at about 215 in my riding gear. Yesterday I took a 10 mile ride in the default 'Sport Mode' on my Vado SL 5.0, I gained 393 feet of elevation and consumed 25 percent of my battery. I guess the extra 40 pounds really makes a difference....(my average speed was 15 mph).

I’m way not as scientifically minded since I retired (I ran a data center test lab) but I have been paying attention so I can plan for longer rides in the future. I’ve ridden several trips on a single charge, totaling 60 plus miles never leaving less than 20% charge. These rides were about 60% in eco (25-35) 35% Sport (45-60) and occasional turbo bursts to top a hill, especially when walkers or slow riders are my momentum.

I’ve extrapolated this to mean I can easily go 80 miles on a full charge, telling me I can safely do a 60 mile ride with battery life to spare.

Of course, after mostly hibernating over the winter I’ll have to recalibrate my expectations next spring.

My 5.0 Vado SL did not come with a manual and I have not been able to find instructions from Specialized. I found a YouTube video on using the Turbo Display to set the power levels and have done so. I would like to know more. How did you discover the other features?

Scroll to the bottom and you can download a manual.

The ride stats are right out of Mission Control. I grab the average temperature and wind speed from Weather Underground.
