Pedego has an extensive dealer network & a warrenty program. I hope they would cover a motor failure in the first year.
Hub motor bikes can undergo an entire motor replacement without major machine work. One Canadian vendor of rear hub motor power wheels is Grin Tech. I got 4500 miles out of my $221 ebikeling motor before the plastic gears wore out.
I now ride a Mac12t that cost ~$700, but they are difficult to find.
Compatibility of a new motor with an existing controller & battery is not assured. There are several styles of motor connector. Easiest to buy a complete kit with power wheel motor controller PAS pickup & brake handles, but that leads to external wiring which some people find ugly. One still has to solder or crimp on new terminals to match the old battery. Since batteries are $400-600 items, that is usually worthwhile. When I changed from ebikeling to Mac motor, I had to make a new mount for the new controller. The old controller wouldn't plug up and the new controller the wires were too short to mount under the seat.
