Hello again guys! Just purchased an Easy Motion Evo 27.5 Jumper...

Used, from a bike shop in Wisconsin, that shipped it to my address. It doesn't seem like the thing is all the way put together, and I was wondering if anybody could help me with the set-up or maybe point me in the direction of some instructions of some kind...


It didn't seem to come with "instructions" per se, only small individual manuals for things like the front and rear derailleur and stuff like that... Should I feasibly just be able to attach the seat and wheel and go?


Just worried about messing something up.

Sweet thank you! In the beginning, when it is talking about the battery, and to make sure the red light comes on and you can hear the fan.. I don't hear a fan? Is that bad? It seems no different in any other way, seems to be working and charging fine... : /


Also, I think it's just that I am an anxious person, but those directions seem to include some things that I'd be super worried about screwing up... Does anyone know what a good price to pay someone or maybe even a shop would be, to have them put it together and make sure everything is in working order?

The current charger (including mine) does not have a fan. I would suggest if you have doubts, contact a local bike shop and ask them if they'd help with the assembly. Maybe if you post where you're located, someone might have a suggestion where you might get some help.

Any bicycle shop worth a salt would be able to put it together for you. $50 job. Most BH Easy Motion bikes come 95% assembled. All you need to do is, pop in the front wheel, adjust the handlebars, pump up the tires and may be index the derailleurs.
You will love the bike. I used to own one..
Owning a bike like EVO Jumper means, you may need to educate yourself regarding the suspensions, wheel truing, charging procedure etc.

So I think I've done everything, except I cannot seem to get my front tire to spin all that freely... just feels off. And that video has been helpful, but I cannot read that last slide! Anyone know what I need to do to get this tire spinning freely?

Does it sound like the disc brake is rubbing? If yes, it can probably be remedied with a simple alignment. Wheels don't necessarily soon that freely anyway. Unless you are hearing noises from it when you actually ride there probably isn't an issue. If you soon it and see it wobble back and forth it would need to be trued, any bike shop can do that cheaply.

Before you do that, if you have a set of Allen wrenches it is easy to align disc brakes. See my post in this thread on how to adjust them, post five or six from the top.

I have tried this a couple times, to no avail. Maybe I am not doing it correctly?


The sound does not sound like a chirp or a squeal, but more of just like a rubbing, friction-y sound, ya know? I can actually see where the rotor is touching the brake pad.


I decided I will probably just take it to a shop. Do you think it would be safe to ride it to a shop? Without risk of injury to myself or damage to the bike?

When I recieved my new Evo 29'er, I had to center the front and rear calipers to the rotors as shown in the first video above. I also had to bleed the rear as shown in the second video. You would need a bleed kit for that, available through Amazon. The link to Mountain Bike Action Magazine is a good troubleshooting article on bicycle disc brakes.

I looked up the items I purchased a year ago, in the event you find the need.

If you have Tektro Auriga e-Comp brakes like my Evo has, this is your bleed kit:

I found these pads make less noise and stop better than the OEM pads:

Tektro aren't as good as the Avid Elixir brakes I have on another, but the Tektro's are much easier and less expensive to service.

For all of you 'do it yourself' types this is great info, do note though that hydraulic brake fluid is generally toxic to the environment, so have absorbent material below where you're working that will keep it off the ground. And DOT 4 brake fluid is corrosive so were gloves as well and keep it off the bike's paint and your clothes; it will damage it.

Thanks so much for all your help ya'll. I ended up getting the rotor to stop rubbing the pad! I am still gonna' take it into a shop to get looked at though, for a tune-up and what not. I do have some more questions though, although they are less to do with putting the bike together...


I was wondering if anyone here who has had this bike, or knows what would fit, has any suggestions for storage/rack/what have you... it doesn't some like your basic universal bike racks will go onto this thing.


Also, does anyone have any recommendations for locks and chains? Again, I am trying to make sure it fits (ordering online probably). I was thinking about the OnGuard 8020 Mastiff chain, or the Kryptonite Fahgettaboudit Mini U-Lock.
