Giant 2020 ebikes?

Is it definitely coming to USA ?
I'd suggest you visit a dedicated Giant dealer and ask them. At least up here in Canada, the Giant dealers (the dedicated ones at least) had advance info on bikes and specs LONG BEFORE the info appeared on the Giant website. And it was based on that info that I decided not to wait and picked up the last 2019 Explore E+1 GTS in Canada.

I was told by a dealer in USA that it's only e+4 for our market .
Wow! That's a real shame! Hard to believe that Giant isn't bringing what many consider to be their better models to North America. The new E+1 in the rest of the world is really what I wanted, but in their "wisdom" Giant decided it's not for the NA market. So I got a 2019 E+1 instead.

Well , that's my understanding , but also find it hard to believe .
Maybe it will release later in the year .
I was also told that Giant is a bit behind production schedule and that the China tariff has effected their business .

The only things I really want from the +2 vs the +4 is the 500 vs 400 battery and fork lockout .

Well , it's personal preference .
I actually like the minimal non display on +4 , and in a way , I rather choose my own rack and lights .

I m from the same camp. THose display make the ebike more like a motocycle than a bike. I think the non display is brilliant, and also help to keep riders to focus on the road rather than stats

To each his own! No problem!

"Minimal non display"... as in NO display! :)

But did you know that with the RideControl One there is no way for you to find out how many miles (odometer reading) the bike has been ridden? Only the dealer with special software can determine that. I was really surprised when I found that out.

I agree with you about choosing your own lights... I've done that too, replacing the stock light with a Busch & Muller IQ-X E (love it!!), plus I have a Cyglolite Metro 1000 that I use in flashing mode. But it was really nice to have the wiring already in place, and the light controllable by the stock switch.

And as far as the rack is concerned, one of the things Giant has done is to make things just non-standard enough that it's difficult if not impossible to get products that fit right. With the rack, their own racks fit perfectly on the frame and fork bosses.

I am 100% agreed mtl_biker on the rack. I purchased the rack separately on my 19 e+3, it's suepr sturdy. My MEC world tour pannier fit on it perfectly.

Which rack do you suggest for the e+4 ?
There's nothing (yet) on the US Giant web site showing a rack that'll work on the E+4. And the racks that are there specify which model bikes they're for. I hope you'll find the right rack easily but I think it'll take some work.

Did you already buy the E+4?

I don't know if it'll make any difference or not, but you may have to consider also whether you'll put fenders on the bike. It could be that fenders affect how the rear rack fits. Just something to keep in mind.

If you're planning on commuting with the bike, I think you'd want to add fenders and maybe a front mud flap as well as have a rack. Crazy that the E+2 isn't yet available in the US (and might not be). By the time you add up all the extras you may want/need, the price is going to be up there. May be worth looking at another model, or even another brand. From the US site, the only 2020 e-bike with fenders and rack is the Fastroad E+ EX Pro (real nice bike but with 375w battery). Hard to believe Giant isn't (yet) bringing in the models more suitable for commuters. Crazy! In Canada at least we have the Explore E+2 GTS also.

there a specific rack for the explore, it even have match for different size frames

the rack is super strong, yet pretty lightweight.
Yeah, but that's not on the US site, and the Canadian one you linked to specifies it's for model year 2018 and 2019. ("Apply with Explore E+ and Amiti-E+ (MY18/MY19)") It may or may not work with the 2020 E+4.

I bought the e+4 the other day and am picking it up today .
It was US$2200 .
If the e+2 was available probably would have gone for it .

There are a couple of racks on the US site the shop said will work ; not sure I like either one .

I'm gonna change the tires to Schwalbe Almotion 28 x 2.0 (50mm) (which are actually closer to 45mm) or 28 x 2.15 (55mm)

What does the E+1 in the rest of the world have that isn't available on the North American models?

Isn't that the one with the fenders and rack and lights and stuff?

Commuters and people in inclement weather regions seem to like fenders - I've never had them and never wanted them. Fair weather boater...and biker. LOL
