Firmware update using mission control app

I noticed my Vado now has an option on the mission control app to update firmware.
Has anyone tried this?

I'm a little hesitant that it might 'brick' it if all does not go well.
 
Don’t worry about ”bricking” the motor as the software update can only be done by a Specialized dealer, it isn’t a user option. The only way you are notified that the software needs an update is through Mission Control. The other day I noticed a red exclamation point on the MC screen. The Settings option told me both the motor and display (TCD) required an update. I had to take the bike to the dealer for them to do the updates. Unfortunately Specialized does not say what the updates cover so you have no idea what problems/features were addressed.
 
The firmware update thru mission control app is working for Levo 2019/2020 and Kenevo 2020. Vado is comming.

That's interesting. I wonder why the Creo requires one to have the dealer do the update.
 
about time and user updates OTA no less. i think they already have OTA on their end for vado/como but not released to the users because the mission control settings menu in my MC app mysteriously changed from 'sport' to 'trail'. after i notified specialized thru the app email, it went back to 'sport' a few days later and i did nothing except charge the bike battery and used MC to change my tune setup.
since the updates are done thru the display connection right now...i'm starting to put 2 and 2 together...so far i come up with 5

I think what you observed could be a matter of MC software update. Not related to firmware update.
 
who updated MC? i didn't. there hasn't been an update for MC in months until the other day it showed up on Gplay. well after this
incident...hah it says trail again after going thru setup menus must be a glitch in the software it now its back to sport
