Finally Found and Ebike I Want, But There Are None Available

I wanted to get an "American" ebike with a good dealer support system, so I looked at Trek, Specialized, and Cannondale.

I wanted a Class 1 machine, (so I could ride it in Pennsylvania, especially on bike paths) a 500 watt motor, (preferably Bosch)

and a bike that could transport my 250 pound mass without exceeding the bike's weight limit. I liked the Specialized Turbo Vado

(too fast for Pennsylvania), the Trek Verve Plus 3 and the Trek Allant Plus 7 (total weight ceiling too low)

I ended up trying to find a Cannondale Neo Quick EQ, which ticked all the boxes, but none are available in XL, which is the size I

take on that bike. The problem is, I cannot find any for sale. Anybody know where one might be located to purchase?

I live in PA and don't have as much concern for the rigidity and inanity of the 20 mph limit. Who is checking, exactly , and where? Many bikes allow you to limit the speed in the display, even if they are capable of more. I live in near W.Chester and nobody is looking at these bikes for speed - especially the bikes you are mentioning. You can barely recognize them as ebikes. Get what you like and ride it reasonably and nobody is going to bother you.

I’M in central VA. I have a Super Commuter 7 I could sell you. It has some upgrades such as Kinect seatpost. There are less than 1800 miles on it...perfect condition (says the shop at a 1400 mile checkup). It’s extra large. I liked it so much I replaced it with a big daddy Allant9s. Now its in the barn gathering dust except when the 9 is in the shop. Go to ‘Trips Pictures, Maps’ scroll back to maybe April and see it on the road. Very cheap at a grand...no shipping...pickup in person where you can test ride then pay in cash.

Thanks, Mulezen. The Super Commuter is a great bike for sure, but I would put it over the weight limit.

It looks like there are 2 versions of the Quick Neo. Last year's version is the Bosch mid drive (good) and the current version has the much less powerful eBikeMotion X35 hub drive. I had an Orbea with the X35 system and while it kept the bike nice and light, it wasn't the best choice for my hilly 28-mile round trip commute.

That's a shame. They will (or have before covid at least) alow test rides. I wonder if they'd bring one in for a test ride? The Tesoro looks sort of similar in style. Seems a lot of bike for the money compared to many. The rack is a bonus. I wish I hadn't looked at it because I like it now. The dealer is probably 40 minutes from the river at Rt 30.

route, but near Chickies Rock, the trail is allegedly "crawling" with copperheads. I've never seen any in real

time, I've seen videos.

Just rode that a week ago. Great trail! I see snakes there a lot, but never copperheads... yet. The last time I saw a Copperhead was 2 years ago this month. I was clearing part of my field out back, a lot of rocks, saplings and not too far from a spring. Using a walk behind 3' mower I nearly hit one. Scared the heck out of me. I have a fair amount of toads and snakes, mostly black snakes, milk snakes and garter snakes. That was my first copperhead here in 25 years.

We also have a lot of corn snakes in the area too. Corn snakes look similar to copperheads. Fortunately they aren't pit vipers though. This black snake was on the Lancaster River trail.



Hopefully you won't have to wait til next year for a bike. The fall is amazing around here. Good hunting!

On the western side of NJ, I saw a Cannondale Treadwell Neo at Hart's Cyclery in Pennington, NJ. Brielle Cyclery had them too (Jersey Shore location). That was where I was able to ride one. I'd recommend buying from Hart's but then again, Ross is my friend.

Hey Sifu Ben. Thanks for the advice. I don't know much about the Treadwell Neo and will have to do some research. I also saw that the Synapse Neo 1 and Synapse SE are available. They look very nice, but might be above my price range. The Neo 1 looks like a 22 speed with Shimano 105 and Ultegra components while the SE is an 11 speed with mostly SRAM components. The price is almost identical. Ever ride either of these?

I've only ridden the Treadwell Neo which is the barebones version without a front rack. Glorious bike! Nice and light, nimble, very comfortable (saddle is great and the suspension seatpost worked). It is only rated for 250 watts but the light weight makes it feel very lively and fast. Doesn't come with lights (I think you can buy Cannondale's f/r lights that connect to the battery) and no bike computer to display speed, tripmeter, odometer. The single button control was overly simple it was confusing (until you read the manual and get used to it). Makes the Rad Rover ride like a chump. I've been out of the road bike scene for a while but the Synapse models are racy-looking comfort road bikes. When they first came out, my riding friends said that they were comfy and more upright for bikes with drop bars. I used to have Ultegra on my road bike and they lasted about 16k miles. 105 is just as good but slightly heavier than Ultegra and less durable. SRAM is hot but full disclosure, my step dad's son works for SRAM. I've never used SRAM. If I were you, I'd buy the base Treadwell Neo and put on your own lights and cycle computer and racks. You can't remove the battery on that bike. It's class 1 so no throttle but I didn't see that as needed.
