Electrical shorting sound

Being brand new to electric biking, I have been hearing a kind of shorting sound when I am out riding. The sound you would hear if you touched 2 electric wires together. Today it was so loud, my husband riding his bike behind me even heard it. But the bike seems to run just fine. I don't hear it all of the time. But I do hear it every time I go out for a ride.
Has anyone else had that? I would have called the bike shop, but it is closed today.

I'd take the battery out of the bike until you get it to the shop
