The Welsh "W" is actually a vowel The "Y" is a vowel, too.
The double L is a Welsh specific sound, hard to imitate. Yes, it was me taking the photo of the Welsh train station last year, and I used to practice pronunciation of that name for a long time Now, I can sing it but not to say it

My Welsh friend in Poland taught me how to pronounce Llandudno, though

I had a friend who always pronounced it "whales." Maybe he wasn't wrong, then?
