Electric propulsion: anybody else plugging in their cars? mowers?

Being ebike riders, we all have benefited from clean human powered propulsion aided by battery power. Quiet and powerful bikes that allow a nice break from the noise in our life. Have you discovered the wonders of electric vehicles? I myself have been driving electric vehicles since 2012 and have transitioned to battery-powered mower, snow-blower, leafblower and string trimmer.

Not a car yet, maybe the next one. Would like more choices. For sure I’m driving the petrol powered car less and using the ebikes for errands.

Also use electric leaf blower and electric hedge trimmer. They’re lighter than gas powered ones. The run time on fully charged battery isn’t very long, about as long as my wimpy arms will last.

A friend uses Kobalt 40v mower. I use mostly Kobalt 80volt tools except for the string trimmer. My friend complains about the short battery life. I have a 1 acre lot and 2 stock batteries (2 aH) that came with the mower. These batteries can do about 60% of the yard before I need to swap. My snowblower came with a 5aH battery which fits the mower. That one can do the entire yard.

I tried some battery operated garden tools ... a blower, a cultivater, and a string trimer, but none of them were up to the tasks. Today i only use a 110 powered corded mower and string trimer.

we have battery mower., black and Decker. It is so much better than a gas mower! The fact that there is a switch rather than a starter cord to pull seals the deal. The thing that surprised me: It must have a strain gauge. When you are fully powered up and go over say a sidewalk, it idles down, much like a governor on gas engine. We have two batteries, but one last long enough that you are ready to stop....

We drive mostly electric vehicles (my big motorcycle has been sitting in the garage since I bought a BMW electric scooter). Along with the Kobalt 80v tools, we haven't had to do any maintenance on the electric components. We had a Chevy Volt and have a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV that required oil changes (that's hybrids for you) and we don't miss the $400 bill from our mobile lawn tool mechanic for spark plugs, oil changes, tuneups, carburetor cleaning on our lawn tractor, leaf blower, mower, edger, snowblower, trimmer. Come start of the gardening season, we just insert battery and mow away.

I have an Ego mower, weed wacker, leaf blower and hedge trimmer.
