"Ebikes change lives"

Yesterday I had a beautiful commute home on my ebike. All of the mountains were out (as we say here in the Pacific Northwest), so I had a ride home at sunset, with a pink/orange sky, riding across Lake Washington which was a dark blue, approaching teal in color, sparkling in the sun, looking at Mt. Rainier's peak to my right, heading toward the white-caped Cascade mountains. Amazing.

On the way home, a sparkle of glass. Sh**. I had avoided the same area last week when I saw the glass. But today, in different light, I missed it and rolled right through. All seemed okay, but 5 miles later, bike wobbling, I called my husband and he brought me the last two miles home.

That night I took my bike to my local bike tech, Dan Sotelo, in his garage workshop for a rear flat repair. As he fixed my bike, he told me that on Quora a user asked him "What's so great about ebikes." His reply? "Ebikes change lives."

They do. There's no way I could do my beautiful 25 mile round-trip commute on a conventional bike. I'd be sitting in my car, or sitting on a bus. An ebike is an investment in health that is also fun. My 80 year old dad stopped skiing and said he thought he'd miss it a lot, but riding his ebike everday gives him that feeling of motion and speed (he's 80 and not riding fast, but it FEELS fast!) that pushes the same buttons that skiing did. Ebiking has also changed lives of my other family members.

Oh, and about that glass--on my list is to bring a broom with me the next time I ride that route.

Have a great cycling day!

Except for the flat, it looks like you had a good ride! My wife and I flew into Seattle last spring. It was a clear day and the Cascades were truly a spectacular sight!

I'm not impressed with the Schwalbe Fat Frank tires and slime filled Kenda tubes that come stock on the Pedego Interceptors. After the third flat on my Interceptor, I swapped them for Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires and Schwalbe MTB tubes with Slime. 300+ miles so far with no flats.

The Fat Franks do give a slightly better ride but I'm willing to trade a bit of comfort for the superior puncture resistance of the Marathons.

I appreciate your recommendation! Bike tech (Dan) said that my back tire is through half its life (I have 2600 miles on it). He said that when I need a new tire to put the FRONT tire on the BACK and the new tire on the FRONT, so I will do that. Dan said the new tread on the front makes for better handling. I appreciate your tire recommendation. OH! Dan put a "Mr. Tuffy" tire liner in my back tire when he took care of the flat. I asked if he could and he had a used one on hand and put it in for free. (He's a really nice guy). When that tire wears out, I'll save the tire liner, for sure, and definitely put the $$ into a better tire. :)
