E-bike newbie, question about faraday porteur/resale value

Hi all, I am seriously considering buying a 6 week old faraday porteur from a women in Seattle who is moving. Price is $2,500 (retail $3,500). Comes with 2 yr warranty. Does anyone have a clue if reselling it for close to that amount would be a joke if want to change bike in 6 months to a year? I've heard e-bikes don't hold their value so well. Thanks!

Depreciation is the most expensive aspect of owning an Ebike, or any motor vehicle, so buying a near new one is the best way to go.

The Faraday is an absolutely beautiful looking eBike, and it weighs only 40 lbs. After that what are you getting for your money, compared to other $2500 eBikes? Look at the battery capacity and motor. And with its unique battery configuratrion (in the bike frame), from a new company, I'd wonder how available parts will be in a few years.

I bought a store demo eBike for 50% of MSRP this year.. I could probably break even 6 months later.

I bought another new eBike in 2009, and sold it 5 years later for 1/3 MSRP.

If you decide to purchase verify that the warranty is transferable.. Have fun!

Thanks for those comments Joepah ;) SO you think getting the battery or motor replaced down the line could be an issue huh?
That's a major deciding factor for me so I am wondering if I've been misinformed that an e-bike shop could take care of me as they could with any other e-bike I don't want to have to rely on them staying in business!

YW. I think the motor and motor controller are common and could be replaced... I have no idea what kind of batteries they are using or where you would purchase a replacement pack if Faraday was no longer in business.

I know for a fact that your average local bike shop wants nothing to do with the electrical parts of an ebike. An Ebike shop could probalby help you. but they would have to figure out where to buy the batteries.

If you really want the bike suggest you call the company directly and find out where they source the electrical parts, and if the warranty is transferable.

Good to know, thank you. I've already left them a voice mail and email, just hoping they get back to me before this weekend, thanks again.

that is what I would do too. Call the manufacturer and ask questions. Read between the lines, do more research and then decide.
