Display Upgrade?

Love my new Ride1Up Core-5 -- my first E-Bike experience. Wondering about display ergonomics.

On the right hand there's this Shimano shifter that you could operate wearing a boxing glove, and on the left there's the KD21C that, if the buttons were any smaller, you'd need a stylus to interact with.

Hmmm... I see KD makes the KD718 which seems to have exactly the same connectors and functionality of the 21C but with way chunkier buttons.

Anyone know about swapabilty?

Thanks!

To enhance searchability, is the Bafang 750C a rebranded KD718?

I haven’t actually swapped my display. I just got a 700 series and it’s awesome! I am looking to make some changes, so I’m reading and learning a lot.

Looking at the manuals for both displays, it seems that you can easily swap the displays. The rated, and maximum, working current are the same. I would just take a picture of all your current settings so you can input them to your new display.

I’ve been doing some research on this lately. A LOT!! I’m convinced that you will be able to straight swap your controller.

I’ve come across 2 types of controllers. KD controllers and KT controllers. These controllers seems to be tied to their respective displays. The KD controllers can use KD displays, such a as the KD718. The LT controllers can use other displays, such as the LCD8H. From my findings, these are not compatible with each other. I was looking at swapping my display to the LCD8H, but I can’t find anywhere (yet) that can verify that will work with a KD controller. I think I’ll have to replace my controller, to a KT controller, to use the LCD8H. I also noticed that the rad upgrade, from Area13 (Bolton) cones with a KT controller. The stock rad controllers seem to be KD controllers. It is my understanding that KT and KD components are NOT compatible with each other.

Also, the KD718 has the same communication protocols (UART/LIN/CAN) as the KD218. Yep, pretty sure it'll work.
