Contending with Wind and Climbs, What Works?

And I thought I had it all planned....

I rode the 24 mile Lehigh Gorge Trail in eastern PA. yesterday. The forecast called for a South wind between 10 - 15 mph all day. I decided to ride downhill into the stiff South headwind, hoping to have it at my back on the return uphill trip. As luck would have it, there was a mid day wind shift and I found myself fighting the wind again on the uphill return ride. Good thing I had a spare battery!

It was still a good ride on a beautiful day but it took about an hour longer than I had planned. It would have taken a lot longer if I was using my old conventional Trek MTB! Hooray for e-bikes!
