@ 5 Months old Como 3.0 from LBD:

'noticed on the Left crank arm (not chain side) , the outer retainer 'ring' was about to fall off after it screwed itself out from crank center. This is the Outer Ring Nut that screws Counterclockwise into center of arm over center shaft.

... not sure if it is a trim part or actual structural arm retainer.? , appreciate diagram, or link to info on how the Como crank parts setup is supposed to be assembled to work.

Previously I found the Front axle thru-bolt was about to fall off after screwing itself out... ?

I did go over all other fasteners carefully and Blue Loctite'd the loose Ring Nut on crank.

Thanks

I am not familiar with the Como, but from your description it sounds like the bike is equipped with self-extracting crank arms, and that the outer ring you are describing is the part that the actual crank bolt pushes against when removing the arm. As long as the crank bolts themselves are tight, then the bike can be ridden safely and without problems even if the ring is not there.

Loctite blue 242 is an appropriate threadlock to keep the ring from loosening.

Do not put loctite on on the thru axle!!! It's supposed to be snug and should be checked every now and again. I'd say the same for the retention ring for the self extracting crank bolt too! It's easy to strip that out when swapping over to different crank arms or should they need to be removed for service and the self extracting bolts prove a problem.

Are there any manuals, exploded diagrams and their parts lists of the Specialized Como and other Spclzd bikes ?. They have been around long enough for someone to hopefully develop (or release) a 'factory" type service manual.

Our two Como's also seem to have different software. IS there an easy way to display the version of software?, How do updates work?.

COVID related - I would probably ask our bike store but store is struggling to keep up as it is ...
hav fun

Updates still have to be done by bike store, sadly. You can check software versions with Mission Control App.
