Commuting 30 miles, need help picking a bike

Concur with what @Alaskan said about the Brose motor's internal belt failures. Over on the MTBR ebikes forum, there are many stories of belt failures on Specialized mtb's powered by the Brose motor. Link: https://forums.mtbr.com/e-bikes/specialize-levo-motor-failure-survey-info-1144849.html

Covered under warranty, but here is the rub over this BH bike with them having pulled out of the US market: warranty issues when that belt fails. I have to ask what Brose is doing in support of orphan BH bikes powered by their motors.

Yamaha and a growing ebike company with real dealers versus an orphan bike and I think the choice is an easy one.

I took the advice from this forum and decided to go down to my LBS and fell in love with two bikes I wasn't event considering. The Yamaha Cross Core and the BH Easy Motion ATOM Diamond Wave Pro (2019). Both Class 1, no throttle, but they were such quality bikes. The BH is so discounted at the store I went to that the price between these two is almost identical after I buy fenders and a rack for the Yamaha. There are pros and cons to both, but I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts on either of these bikes. I'm hoping to go and buy one later today.
not trying to be a jerk but to me that Yamaha is an awful commuter bike especially for urban commuting, its slow 20mph, under powered 250watt motor,36v Batt system, cant keep pace with city traffic,no stock rack or fenders, zero suspension, and super thin tires on top of that? to me this is the opposite of a commuter and more like a fitness bike? am i missing something?

Check this out. On budget and a good city bike

BH is pulling out of North America and not honoring warranties.
I have a BH bike with a Yamaha motor.
The Yamaha motor is joy to ride and bullet proof!

If you a liked the Yamaha I'd go with it. That motor is outstanding.

Don't be fooled by the motor specs on that Yamaha. I ride a lot of single track with it and I rarely go past PAS2(out of 4)even on big climbs.

I would recommend the Yamaha over the BH based the quality of the mid-drive system. Yamaha is very reliable... the Brose belt-drive not so much.

Go for a long test ride and talk with the mechanics at the local bike shop if possible... inquire about their actual repair experience with both brands. ;)
