Cassettes with more midrange?

Just curious. I'm learning about the wonderful world of cassettes and notice most seem to market their top and bottom ranges only.

As a commuter in Australia I rarely use the big or easy cog (36) because I'm generally happy to let the motor do the work up steeper hills. And with our ridiculous 25 km/h cutoff and flat terrain I have literally never used the smallest cog (11), and this includes some hard downhill at 50 km/h.

Being a bit of a goldilocks I'm forever searching for the best gear to clip me along a little above the motor cutoff. The dual cogs up front help that enormously but I could always do with some more nuance in the mid to higher range cogs.

It's all a bit precious but are there any cassettes that provide a little tighter spread in between the high and low figures? I don't care what's happening at the top and bottom, I do care what's happening in between! (currently running a Deore Hg50 and 36-48 crankset, BTW)

If the smallest and largest sprockets on the cassette are unused, consider swapping to a cassette with a reduced range:
  • smallest: 12, 13, 14 (choose one)
  • largest: 23, 25, 28, 30 (choose one)
As you will have the same number of sprockets the larger gaps will be reduced.
  • 13–14–15–16–17–19–21–23–25–28 (example)
