Several owners of this bike have related that you have mastered the tuning of this motor which needs help out of the factory.
Please tell us what you do that is making it better, your not at Exess level but you are beating all the other guys or so it would seem.

Do tell .....

These are two good articles on Bafang tuning and Bafang Ultra tuning. Not for the faint of heart.

The author, Karl Gesslein, subsequently worked with Luna on tuning their Ultra Max motor, apparently with some slightly different settings than are in the article.

Interesting......in one of the articles it mentions both Luna and Biktrix as companies that have figured this out.
It also says if you play around with it, hacking it/tuning it your warranty is void, that means this motor is exclusively warranted through the bike seller under their whole bike warranty, will Bafang credit them if they have a tuned motor die in six months? Maybe or they might have to eat it.

Don't want to make it too easy for the others who sell Ultra motors, do we now :p

Yes, we stand behind our motors and eat the cost if we mess it up.

Can't another seller just figure out programming by plugging in a programming cable and reading programming from the controller on one of your bikes? I doubt any programming you do to the motor is a differentiating sales factor for your bikes. 99% of buyers are clueless about that. Sharing would lead to more collaboration to make fine tuning better. How long has this motor been out? 2+ years? Silly.

Thanks for posting that. For comparison:

Would be interesting to compare to what Biktrix uses. Such a wide variation out there I'm guessing it really depends on user preference.

Totally okay with people comparing settings and figuring it out. Our changes are also not just what you see on the programming software. We often make changes to the firmware hex codes - you don't see these fine-tuning changes in the software quoted here. It is a good start though :)

Firmware hex codes? Lol wut? So Bafang gave you the code to modify and create your own firmware?

eBikeaHolic's recommendations are great. It will certainly make the motor perform better than what comes from the factory. Our motors are still different from these.

Firmware hex codes to create your own firmware, are way beyond most people, only a few companies seem to have mastered this technology on this motor, when tuned to the bike it is actually on and the style of riding the person does, it is going to be very hard for anybody to beat. Think of all the variables; style of ride, tire size both width and diameter, transmission cassette or Rohluff hub/style, chain or belt, suspension type, cruiser verses eMTB. And each company has to try and figure out what works best on "THEIR" bike. This motor is like taming a wild horse/mustang, the raw power is there it just needs to be refined.

Roshan must have his personal bike tuned to perfection for himself.

Doubt he needs his personally tuned, best I can tell all Biktrix Ultras are programmed so well there is not really much room for improvement!

Probably the next step from here is even more advanced hardware (motor, controls, etc) in future Biktrix generations. For now, those of us riding Biktrix Ultras can rest easy knowing there really isn't any changes needed to our motor programming, it's already bang on :D

It would be interesting for a rider with experience of both the Innotrace/Archon controller/SW and the Biktrix tuning could share/compare their experience.

Hmmmm, interesting. As a Canadian I've wanted to buy a Biktrix, but the issue is that they don't make the type of bike I'd like to buy. I would like an electric gravel bike that uses a smaller and lighter motor like the Bafang m800.

Perhaps one day they'll make it, or as I get older I'll find the bikes they make better suited to what I want at the time.

M800 still isn't mature enough for us to roll it out. The system is completely locked down with BESST (Bafang's proprietary tool for programming). Also turns out that err 21 (speed sensor error) bogs down the system and cuts power till you hard reset. This can be super annoying especially if you need to wait for up to an entire wheel revolution for the speed to pick up.
