Apparently the low key signs about 'sharing' don't work as well as telling the drivers that bikes have full rights to the lane. Around here the signs say that cars must give 3 feet to bikes, minimum clearance. There aren't many signs, but they are on heavily biked roads.
I try to move over, a bit, as I see cars in the mirror. Hey, I give a little, you give a little? Most cars wait to pass until they can use the other lane. I had a guy in the other lane, going the other way, cross the center line and aim right for me. He didn't get that close. That, basically, is assault with a deadly weapon, but a little hard to prove. Maybe he was texting his mistress?
Bikes have much more respect than they used to, here.
