Bike Polish

[City Commuter]

I detailed my black City Commuter with Sunlite Pro Polish this weekend. It really deep cleaned the paint, and gave it a nice glossy finish (makes your bike look pretty darn spiffy . It's easy to use, just spray it on, wait for a minute, then buff with a cloth. I do wash the abrasive dirt off first though. I bought a can locally, but here's a link for info.

Cool! My bike is generally decorated with road dirt and chipped paint from gravel hitting it!!!

I gave mine a good coat of Turtle Wax the day I took it out of the box. Still looks okay except where I've rubbed the fork against objects.

I don't wash or polish my bikes as they're generally pretty grungy after every ride however I do wipe the displays, GPS, and mirrors with glass cleaner occasionally.

And I did the opposite by going overboard. I wrapped the frame in automotive 3m paint protection film that is used for bumpers and hoods to prevent nicks and scratches to the paint. It still can be waxed or sealed and treated like a regular clear coated surface but it's pretty difficult to mar under normal circumstances. A painstaking process to do the entire frame but rewarding when done.

There are companies that have kits for specific bike styles of clear protective film to protect the most vulnerable areas of the frame.
