Bent derailleur bracket

My son accidentally tipped over my OHM 700-XU 15 and the derailleur bracket bent (it works but there is no 'stop' for the last gear, it just falls off the chain). The first dent in my new baby -- alas, not even 2 months old! Worst part is bike shop won't have it ready for 5 days. Missing 5 days of summer riding!

No worries. if it makes you feel better..
Yesterday, while reseating the tire and aligning the wheel, I screwed up my bike's torque sensor. Not riding for the next 10 days !!

In 1995 I dropped my one day old Trimuph Tunderbird motorcycle , broke the front trun singal . Oh what a day that was for me. But 100 years form now , who will care! Keep looking up! Ken.

First time I rode my Haibike with my new clipless pedals I forgot I was clipped in and promptly crashed at a 4 way stop in front of 2 cars..........Arte Johnson 0 speed tip over.

30 years ago I was bringing home a new (flawless used) cycle I'd just purchased in the back of my truck. Tie down slipped and the bike tipped over IN MY DRIVEWAY after I'd stopped! Put a nice dent in the spotless gas tank.............

Well not on THAT bike. I've been riding with clipless for 20 years, but not on that bike for the first 20 or so rides. So was used to not being clipped in on that bike........

Happens to everyone. In motorcycling there is an old saying, "It's not if you will go down, it's when." I remember buying an M5 that had just been upgraded by Dinan. I was driving over the hill on my way to the dealer to pick up an accessory and as I was stopped dead in traffic, someone rammed my back end so hard it pushed me into the car in front of me. Week old car, bah-bammmmm! I also remember buying a K1200RS motorcycle and no less than a day old when I was stopped in traffic on a road with a steep slant to it. I put the wrong foot down and bah-bammmm, I dropped the bike. The phrase, "s*it Happens," should be amended to: "s*it Happens All The Time."

Funny anecdote: To say that I like my vehicles pristine is an understatement. I had just gotten my first motorcycle at age 60 and went for a ride with some friends who were riding aggressively. I leaned the bike too much and scraped one of the foot-peg feelers. I immediately went to the dealer to order a new feeler. The parts manager refused to order it stating that most folks ride for years trying to scrape their feelers. He told me to consider it as a symbol of accomplishment. I walked out the door without ordering.....
