Being Thankful

This is Thanksgiving Day in the US. What are you thankful for right now?
For me I would have had a boring long weekend. I am thankful for a beautiful new bike that came in today. It is a British racing green Public R-18 that is super beautiful for conversion. It gets a cargo grade motor and premium battery. This gives me something to do this long weekend. I am so happy. Then on Saturday I get to fix toys at a toy exchange in an elf hat as Santa arrives on a tugboat. Here is another converted R-18. This new one will be a three note beauty, no fenders, black Riddler tires, and black bar rap, riser, no fenders, and black saddle. I am so thankful to be active and useful to my community.
What wonderful stuff is happening for you today?

I ditched the brown saddle and grip tape on this new bike and also the silver housings and fenders. Next the British racing green rack goes on and the extra-long brake shoes. Now it is time to go for ride before I get back to it this afternoon. I love those matching rims. It really needs those wider all black gravel tires and the stem riser.

I've been called an ingrate from my siblings. But I'm thankful for inhereting a house. Home alone what can be better than that. Happy Thanksgiving @PedalUma and everybody!!!! $300 Peking Duck for dinner. I pardoned all turkeys.

I just had Chinese Wor Wanton Soup and Egg Rolls after a ride on this perfect day. Then I stopped for coffee by the river and had interesting conversations with my shoes off and toes in the sunshine and sand. The duck sound fantastic. I fed a flock on my return leg of my ride. So much better that sibling rivalries, drunk uncles, relatives glued to the couch and so much better than someone trying to organize people to try to recreate an ideal holiday that never happened. Now I am back at it with that green bike.

So much to be thankful for... Great Family and healthy Grandkids. Was able to retire... don't have a lot but I have enough. My big reward to myself was being able to purchase 3 new E-bikes, and taking the entire family on vacation in the Smokey Mtns. And... I made a turkey that didn't taste like it was made from the bottom of someone's shoe....😏

There's a lot of things I'm thankful for if I make a list it would be endless.
I'm thankful for waking up today after being drunk and passing out can't even remember what the NFL score from last night's games.
Family for sure is #1. This morning my nephew came, orders from my sister to check on me treated me breakfast and help haul away some junk from my backyard.
I have one good sister on my side happens to be my half sister same father different mother.

I finished the British Racing Green bike today. The client is super happy. It is so nice to be appreciated. She picks it up Tuesday. Polished cranks arrive tomorrow. And I am so thankful that I had a good project to keep me occupied over the long holiday weekend.

Yes, the rims are beautifully painted and have a clear coat. Even the rack matches. The touch up paint arrives Thursday. That big chainring is just decorative to serve as a chainguard. It looks nicer on the bike than the standard matte black.

Cool! And thanks Bro. Here is how it looks now. Still needs the highly polished cranks as the cheery on top. Oh, it is FAST! I put a cargo grade motor on it that I packed with grease and I protected it from weather incursion. Smooth.
It will be in the Second Annual Holiday Bike Parade and ridding with tricked out low riders from the next town. It might require wheel lights. The white battery pack has 18 inches of slack to drop into a bag on the rack.
Here is from last year's parade. We are expecting 200 bikes this year. Hit full screen on the vid.

OMG... That is a beautiful bike and an awesome build, great job. Love the green!

I saw an ebike like this on a Newport Beach trail yesterday and I always wonder who converts these bikes. It was a rear hub so not sure if it was PedalUma but the job looked pretty clean.

I am thankful for the ebike technology that allows me to ride often and farther.

I was running errand and the thankfulness subject was churning in the back of my mind. Something I am super thankful for is the opportunities I get when I volunteer. For about seven years I would sign up to work a charity music festival. Tickets are very expensive. So, volunteering I would get a backstage pass for access to all the stages, drive a golf cart moving equipment & musicians, get free food, meet cool people, and maybe do a sound test on a drum kit for an engineer, and get a free t-shirt. It is a lot more fun than sitting around waiting to be entertained. Every time I volunteer I meet tons of people and that introduces me to more interesting opportunities. Last Summer I created my own volunteer position running the bike parking at a festival. Saturday I volunteered to run a toy repair table at an event. It is fun and lets me feel useful.

The green bike is finished. It got what it needed, the polished crank arms that make it pop. It glows. I am thankful for local referrals from bike shops. One coming in today is a little old lady with a scooter. It is her only transportation and it has a flat. I am so happy that I can be helpful.
