I have a Frey AM1000 it is now three years old. Everything is absolutely fine, really enjoying it. The display is working also fine however when I go into the information page I can see allowance for individual cell battery detail. Of course everywhere I get the total battery capacity left, but all of the individual cell information is missing. Is this because The Frey battery does the support this information?
Many thanks.

Most likely.
As I understand it, only some of the Bafang built batteries provide full BMS information.

Without any offense intended, I ask the question because I hear that the battery pack of the AM1000 is made by a chinese company that is primarily occupied with the construction of lawn mowers. I was thinking of buying one.

I think you might find the majority of the battery cells being used/supplied are all from China. I would think Frey, with their apparent popularity, would be buying built up packs using commonly accepted "best practices" for assembly. I for one, would have a tendency to trust a Frey bike battery as well as any other of the better known bikes being sold.

The battery cells may well be Chinese. What concerns me is the battery management system of the battery pack.

There have been a lot of reports of cheap battery packs on ebikes that catch fire... Look it up on youtube and you'll see.

You ask about Frey in particular, and received my opinion, which will NOT be changed by any youtube fire video.

Being fairly familiar with the technology, batteries purchased from reputable manf's are not much of a concern here. I'm not an alarmist, and my level of paranoia is under good control.

I don't need to look at youtube to see clueless morons trying to stick homemade batteries together, or totally ignore manufacture's charging directions. Buy a quality battery, follow the directions, and your chances of a fire will be similar to being hit by lightening (or less). There are quite literally millions in use with no trouble at all, but clearly anything is possible. My opinion, FWIW. -Al
