Hi, I bought a Kalkoff pro-connect about 5 years ago and now the battery if dead. Having trouble getting one to fit because there's a new model. The battery I've got is a 18AH/26V Li-ion battery. Any ideas what to do?

Welcome to the forum.

Where the heck is "L334yb" which is where your profile says you are?

If you're in any major city in North America, chances are that there is some kind of specialist battery store around. Most bike batteries (and other electronics such as studio flash units, etc.) are made up of multiple smaller cells, soldered together. I've had many batteries "fixed" by "Battery Expert" (here in Montreal) where they carefully open the battery pack and replace all the cells. So if you're not finding a replacement battery for that thing this might be an option for you.

Good luck!

L33 is in west lancashire England about 4 miles from Liverpool. Thanks I may try and open it and replace cells .

Here's my bike with the battery connected and a closer shot of the battery. I was told they don't stock the battery anymore . Which is a shame when the bike costs 2K.

Thanks Timpo. Will let you know what happens. Still in lockdown here, loads of shops shut. Zombie land ,empty city centers, weird.

Pretty sure it's not advisable for users to "open these batteries and replace the cells." In fact, it's quite dangerous to do so, both in how you might handle the powerful cells and risk injury, and how you would dispose of the old cells and potentially risk environmental damage.

There's also the risk of not being able to properly reassemble the battery and creating a potential fire hazard down the road...
