Attack angle?

Court, you quite often mention attack angle when talking about tire size, could you explain that a little more fully? My brother took a spill on his Bagi folding bike when he hit a pothole, and I was wondering if this is an example of what you are talking about.

Hey, @Black47! I'm not sure of the exact details of the spill your brother took, but the angle of attack could definitely be at play. If he was rocking some 20" wheels, you can imagine how steep that angle would be! I've attached a cool illustration that I found that shows the angle of attack pretty well!

They were 20" tires, and I've been considering a similar ebike, but I'm much more familiar with taller step over non-electric bikes. So maybe it would be better to stick with at least a 26" step over or low step ebike for my aging knees.

I appreciate this chart. My wife rides her 20" fattie folder and I am pretty amazed at how well it does off road, at conservative speeds obviously. Non the less she is aware of how much more jolt she feels going over a curb than she did on her HPV 26 mtB. The chart gave her an understanding of why,.better than I ever could. Naturally , being her husband, she thought my caution on potholes was simply bs to slow her down. Fat tire bikes can induce a little more confidence on a 20" bike but it can't defy physics, again thanks for the chart.

Hey @GypsyTreker you're welcome! I found that chart very helpful as well! Glad I could pass it along :)
