Any interest in a Bosch based Ultimate Commuter Pro ?

There is only one way to compare them is when they are built, head to head ,watt wagon to watt wagon same bike but the different electronics

Rich, I can’t speak for others only myself I don’t want it, I counted the votes so far came out even. I think the big question is will it sell?

I would enjoy a chart comparison to make a better judgement, factual info

We are different people and want different things , this post Is very self centered :)

That is the danger when someone asks for personal opinions or preferences. The way some answer this can easily sound like they think their choice is the only right one.

I took the spirit in which Pushkar posed the quesion was, who would like an additional motor option. I think his concept of offering both the higher powered, more affordable Bafang and the lower powered, higher quality and cost, Bosch is a great idea. Let each customer make his or her own choice.

but would a higher end bike company want to chance their rep on a low end motor and batteries?

I have had several bafang bikes and am not concerned about that, Pushkar is sourcing high quality batteries and I have never had bafang motor problem

that being said I am not running my bikes 10,000 miles a year
either way I expect a bafang motor replacement to be cheaper and easier to source than bosch

Pushkar will stand behind his products either way so that doesn't worry me or factor into my decision

I do get that a Bosch bike would be lighter but for me that is the only advantage I see
totally understand others like Bosch and would be happy with that

On the one hand choice is always a good thing, right? There are folks who prefer one over the other and this would keep them all happy. The only downside I see to it (and this is a Pushkar thing) is that having more choices leads to harder inventory management, supply chain issues, more complexity and so forth. It adds an entirely new level to trouble shooting and trying to solve customer issues since anyone teching the bike has to be familiar with two systems. What's the old saying, jack of all trades, master of none?

good point and it seems like there are lots of good choices for Bosch bikes, although I have a wattwagon mine was not bought for commuting so maybe I am wrong and there are not as many Bosch choices in this segment though

commuting in the us is still a small market. here in portland or there are a ton of bike commuter though. bulls sells several commuting bikes. I have a cross mover and it is a great commuting bike.

Hey everyone

I was wondering if anyone might be interested in a Bosch based UC Pro ? Standard Ti, Gen 4, with all options, Dual powerpack (500whx2) ? Just curious.
Not for me, Yamaha or Brose maybe. And personally a system that can be easily charged with Solar and can make use of a badassBox when required.

@pushkar
I think it's great you are kicking around the idea of different motors for maybe different models, testing is needed for you to decide.
But the TQ motor from Germany should be on your short list to at least test, it is 120 NM of power and is very high end, very few bikes have them; cost issue?
And nobody has run this with a gates/rohloff yet. Most are programmed for low watts for Europe but they can get up to 900 watts with the correct amp setting in the controller.

How about going with one of these: https://www.compdrives.com/en/componts/c19-mid and a say 8ah battery with dual option to 16ah's. For a commuter it isn't necessary to have huge range if you think about it nor lot's of power. You have those bases covered already anyway.

In the specs the c19 is listed as throttle able with advanced PAS which sounds ideal for my needs anyway.

I am not seeing that my wattwagon eats up batteries or that any components on my bike are cheap....

All of my hub motors with throttle 500-750 watts And heavy bikes have always gotten way higher than the highest mileage the battery was Supposed to get

My yamaha is super efficient but also one of my lighter bikes

I bought the ww to do 75-90 mile rides, have two batteries but believe I can do that on 2 batteries charged to 80% easily

No it is not as efficient as my yamaha but it is a way bigger, heavier bike carrying a lot of stuff and me who is heavy
