I am in the process of researching the best bike for a northern tier cross country (Seattle-Boston) ride next Spring, 2020. Any thoughts/experience would be helpful. I am planning a credit card camping trip, staying in motels, so will have a light load. I may even have a sag wagon, if my wife will agree to come along.
My main concerns are availability of repair facilities should there be mechanical/electrical issues while underway. Bikes I have been looking at are the Riese-Muller Delite or Homage, with Rohloff, and the Haibike Sduro 9.0. Price is a factor, but I'd be willing to go to the higher price if the value is there. I am a strong cyclist, former racer with lots of touring in my past, but now in early 60's and being realistic about my capabilities.
