I actually saw one in the wild on a one lane back road by the New York /Canadian border. When they run they look like something from Dr. Suess ... totally goofy and uncoordinated. But I am sure they can be a danger if you are on a bike instead of in a van.

Yes, I've seen a number of them over the years.
The Maxim around here, is to brake to avoid collisions with anything smaller than a moose, that would include bears, and deer. You should also brake to avoid hitting a moose, but if that doesn't/won't work, swerve; you don't want to have a 1,000+ pound critter coming through your windshield.

I rode a bit further today venturing the fast Oilville Rd to get a look at Bobby Lloyd's farm prep for their corn maze pumpkin extravaganza . I didn't stop for a picture because of the dump truck behind. The weather today felt like early fall as the paw paws squished the back roads suggested. I'm surprised the deer haven't tucked into this colorful spread though perhaps repellant has been applied. They are so thick in this area they pose quite a danger...they make up in number what they lack in weight.

It was a mild climb. When I saw the photographer, I had to smile
Then I assumed a more sporty riding position and pretended I was working very hard! (See how bright the Lezyne headlight is!)
