I actually saw one in the wild on a one lane back road by the New York /Canadian border. When they run they look like something from Dr. Suess ... totally goofy and uncoordinated. But I am sure they can be a danger if you are on a bike instead of in a van.

The Maxim around here, is to brake to avoid collisions with anything smaller than a moose, that would include bears, and deer. You should also brake to avoid hitting a moose, but if that doesn't/won't work, swerve; you don't want to have a 1,000+ pound critter coming through your windshield.
