2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

A couple of pics from this morning's 24km ride:

Canicula, Sirius, Dog Star!

We Poles say "kanikuła" to describe the hottest season in our country, mid-August. (It is when the Sun and Sirius rise at the same time). With the temps of over 30 C (86 F) and hot nights, I find cycling impractical and even dangerous to my health. There is a public holiday in Poland on Aug 15th (the day Poland tanned the Soviet Russia hides in 1920), which I decided to celebrate with all day long sleep :)

Yesterday, I had to set off for a grocery shopping ride despite the heat. Went back exhausted after having ridden only 12.7 km because of high temp.

A lunch in Caffe Italiano (Pruszków) for the third day in a row :) Spaghetti, ice-cream, espresso :)

I rode 17 miles today. The heat index was over 100 by the time I got back. Nice day for a ride because the winds were very light except for the heat. I occasionally will ride and have a 1000 feet of elevation gain, not much gain or decent on the stretch of rode in the pic. I’m on an old two lane rural rode that parallels a newer four lane divided.

The Impossible Has Become Possible?

There should be a ferry crossing between Wychódźc and Secymin, far northwest of Warsaw, but there was none. Last year, local people voted on something called Citizens' Budget. People are asked how their local taxes should be spent, and they voted for a seasonal ferry crossing where it should be. In the spite of me not feeling very well but taking the opportunity of a less hot Sunday, I need to explore the unique route!

I hope I can manage it. It is -- as always -- 50 miles plus the commute to/from the train station.

P.S. @Chargeride: the new ferry operates only from 1st July. Still, it is already in Komoot. How many times did I tell you to give up Google Maps? :D

yes we all do, luckily it happend 100yards from the van.
After all my lecturing on excessive speed, the red mist does take over.
We descended from high cup as fast as gravity would allow, skimming over rock built trails at 40mph.
That Levo can devour terrain, its a very addictive thrill, sanity goes out the window..I might have to sell it😂

I got up at 6am, returned at 5pm, went out till 2am, woke up at 1pm, 11 hours sleep, every muscle still aching 🤪

Stefan , how hot does your charger get, mine is practically too hot to touch and actually smells like hot plastic, the lads all say theirs are exactly the same.
Seems very poor heat control to me.

It can be very warm but not at the level of smelling hot plastic. Use a fan, perhaps?
What is the model number of your charger? It should be clearly stated in the text printed printed on the charger.
