I, and I think a few of us, RabH, remain in awe. In any case, while road riding is not my favorite, I am jealous that you have such wonderful routes to ride.
We Poles say "kanikuła" to describe the hottest season in our country, mid-August. (It is when the Sun and Sirius rise at the same time). With the temps of over 30 C (86 F) and hot nights, I find cycling impractical and even dangerous to my health. There is a public holiday in Poland on Aug 15th (the day Poland tanned the Soviet Russia hides in 1920), which I decided to celebrate with all day long sleep
Yesterday, I had to set off for a grocery shopping ride despite the heat. Went back exhausted after having ridden only 12.7 km because of high temp.
A lunch in Caffe Italiano (Pruszków) for the third day in a row Spaghetti, ice-cream, espresso
Check out this snapping turtle at my usual turn-around point at 10 miles on the rail trail. This guy was BIG. He was blocking the local road by the pond (which luckily is barely traveled). Anyway, this was a treat. Hope you guys can see the vid on streamable:
I rode 17 miles today. The heat index was over 100 by the time I got back. Nice day for a ride because the winds were very light except for the heat. I occasionally will ride and have a 1000 feet of elevation gain, not much gain or decent on the stretch of rode in the pic. I’m on an old two lane rural rode that parallels a newer four lane divided.
