2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Korboloza Bolimoza Ultimatoza
(An Ultimate Gravel Group Ride in Bolimów Landscape Park)

As I started riding in Bolimów Landscape Park already in March 2021 (so I amassed enormous experience), and the area has become my favourite "gravel cycling heaven", I decided to create the ultimate route leading through all interesting places in the Park, longer than 100 km, and with no closed loops.

I completed the planning last week. Tommy verified the Loop A on Friday by his own ride. I invited many gravel cyclists... I had to compete with an enormous gravel group ride happening in Kampinos National Park on the same day... (Admire the elegance of my route: only leading through green areas, 65/35 unpaved/asphalt. and no closed loops!)

I was lucky to attract five riders. L to R: Marek, Jędrzej, Tommy, Piotr, and Szymon (Jędrzej's brother). Obviously, I was the sixth rider :)

A small river, the Chojnatka. Any river, despite how small, requires a bridge!

In 19th c., two villages (one in Mazovia and one in the today's Land of Łódź) decided to rename themselves to Jeruzal (for Jerusalem) in the hope of attracting pilgrims and their money :) The Mazovian Jeruzal, its grocery store selling cheap "Mamrot" wine, was the place where a popular TV series "Rancho" was filmed. Here, we are in the wrong Jeruzal :) Besides, both grocery stores were closed and we had to pedal as far as to Puszcza Mariańska to find an operating convenience shop!

At the 40th kilometre by Jesionka train stop, Tommy stopped the group, shook hands with each participant as if saying his goodbyes, and made that speech: "I would like to thank you guys for joining the ride! It was my greatest pleasure to complete the Loop A together with you! Yes... the same Loop I verified for you on last Friday... Now we can all continue riding together until the finish line!" :D What a prank! People were rolling from laughter!

However, Tommy was punished soon. He caught a flat, and we worked on the wheel together. Meanwhile the remaining four communicated with us and rode to Puszcza restaurant in Bolimów.

Brothers Jędrzej and Szymon were in hurry. They sped up to Skierniewice Rawka and completed their ride at the 70th kilometre. Meanwhile, Marek ordered food for us (hamburgers and/or chips/fries). (The name of the restaurant means 'Wilderness').

The day albeit being cold (4 C) was windless and with a lot of sunshine. We didn't take pictures while riding but Marek asked for some photos at the fire-road #40 to demonstrate the colours of Autumn :)

Obviously, we were skylarking with Tommy :D

In Skierniewice-Rawka, 70th km. Marek was already in hurry, same with Piotr. We let those strong riders ride to Nieborów on their own very fast, while I and Tommy decided to ride "in our own time" (we were indeed riding fast!). The irony is Marek and Piotr -- while making their proper number of kilometres -- altered the route for their own convenience :) (In gravel racing, it means a DSQ) :)

Believe it or not but we only visited the Italian restaurant in Nieborów to buy a litre of mineral water for Tommy! :)

And so, we two as the only people of the group had properly completed the Ultimate route in Skierniewice!

t was a great day. The trip was never banal but it was not overly technically difficult, and we were blessed by a beautiful weather!

P.S. The only irritating thing was the cassette of my big Vado became worn. It has undergone several individual small sprocket replacements. Now, the new cassette is waiting in my cabinet to be eventually used!
