2020 Allant 8S - replace Smartphonehub with Nyon 21?

My Smartphonehub on my Allant 8s is all messed up. It's an ongoing issue. The wire connections and the mounts need replacing. I get frequent disconnects and as of yesterday it's unrideable. I'm wondering if it's time to switch hub types instead of getting another Smartphonehub.
The Nyon 21 retrofit looks great, and it's hard to locate. I'm in the USA, but have found it available in Canada. Before I spend the $400 + USD, I'm wondering about a couple things:
  • Is there a difference between a Canadian Nyon21 and a USA version?
  • Would a retrofit kit give me everything I need to hook it up to the 8S?
Thanks in advance.

I've never understood the smartphone thing. I don't want to take the chance of it blowing out of the mount and breaking.
I'll ride some more with my Intuvia and decide whether to go to the Nyon.
I've seen Nyons up here. I think they were about $400-ish CDN. That's well under $400 USD.
Perhaps a small patch will allow a Canadian Nyon to work on a US bike. I'd think it has to be only a software diff.

I have a new 8s with the smartphone hub. I use an older phone without a sim card, and it works fine. I download what I need when I'm connected to wifi. I can also hotspot to my regular phone, which I carry, if I need to.

That said I find the cobi.bike app really quirky. You plan routes with Komoot, since cobi.bike has a terrible route planner and can't do loops. You save your completed routes to Strava. And that's not even documented. Worse, the app has limited customization. I'd have thought Trek or Bosch could do better.

I priced out a Nyon in Canada a month ago from a local ebike store.....$499.00. I originally planned on having a Smartphonehub installed. I'm very glad I didn't.
