We recently got a 3-month trial for Apple TV+ and have been streaming this show on our Roku. It's called "Long Way Up" and is an adventure trip undertaken by the actor Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan in some Star Wars episodes) and a buddy riding motorcycles from Tierra del Fuego to Los Angeles. The motorcycles are a pair of custom-built pre-production Harley-Davidson electric motorcycles and for support they're accompanied by a pair of custom-built pre-production Rivian electric trucks. What could possibly go wrong??
It's one thing to ride an electric motorcycle with a range of about 100 miles (a lot less when climbing the Andes!) and stopping in places where you're lucky if they even have electricity let alone something suitable for charging your vehicles. The Rivians have regenerative braking and a couple times they had to recharge them by having a local with a truck tow them for a number of miles to put charge back into the batteries. The motorcycles also had this feature but towing would be problematic.
Anyway, it's a great adventure, spectacular scenery, with a number of tense moments trying to get somewhere on time or worrying about making the distance, all while filming shots to make the documentary. Having ridden an e-bike this last year, I can identify with some of the issues, but they take it to a whole new level!
