LightBlue speed hack for 2019 Levo’s

Have tried BLevo - if the firmware is the .25 version then it doesn't work.

Vado vs. Turbo X/S Efficiency -- How many Wh/mi?

I've ridden and tested plenty of bikes, and for those that exhibit less battery use than my Turbo S, there is always a plausible explanation. Like it doesn't provide as much assist, for example (limited speed ActiveLine Euro bikes), or I am riding at its speed limit so it mostly me (as I found...

    Turbo Vado - Tyre blowout

Guy I know had his Vado 3.0 tyre explode on first ride. If your tyre doesn't explode I suspect it will be just fine :-) In my experience Schwalbe Almotion is the finest tyre as long as you don't expect more than about 8000km lifespan for rear) or 12,000km for the front.

    Vado 5.0 - 45 months ownership - approximately 23,000+ miles

For your amusement. I have a Turbo with turbo S motor and now yourself battery. https://electricbikesnz.com/2018/09/11/two-years-of-commuting-costs-and-benefits/

    Vado 5.0 - 45 months ownership - approximately 23,000+ miles

There is only one pad for ebikes, and that's Kool Stop Aero Kool. Get them from Amazon. I got over 16,000km from mine.

    Alternative forks for Vado 3

Fwiw the R&M is an amazing bike. It's a tour bike rather than a commute bike. Is say the Vado is a more suitable commuter, only because it's cheaper and lighter.

    Modding a Vado

I had a question from an Australian reader asking what he'd need to do to make his Vado the same as a NZ-spec one, ie not limited to 25kph. In NZ they came out as 32kph/20mph limited and got changed to 45kph/28mph though a firmware update. He's not going to get anyone in Aus to do that as they...

Upgrading chainring and bottom bracket. My experience.

I went with a fairly affordable Race Face Ride crankset and threw out the 34T chainring. I used the same 48T 104BCD chainring I had before and ordered another (similar) 50T narrow-wide chainring made by Deckas (you can buy them through eBay or AliExpress). It did make a big difference to the...

Turbo Owners -- What's your total mileage? [OFFICIAL MILEAGE THREAD]

John, I did fiddle around a bit with spacers and so on. I now have Almotion 50c tyres that are quite large and I have clearance. There was one part of the reinforcing strip that I ground down a bit.

    Do you break spokes?

ebikes break spokes, and it seems to be an issue with the factory builds and the stresses on the wheels rather than that it is something you have to expect. My Turbo S had issues with spokes breaking - after a by-hand rebuild of the wheel it has been perfect with 10,000km on that wheel. People...

Turbo Owners -- What's your total mileage? [OFFICIAL MILEAGE THREAD]

What servicing did you do on the freehub @jwb ? I do have a residual weird noise coming from somewhere (sometimes) that stops if I backpedal. Still cant find it.

    What's your maintenance routine?

Mostly keeping it clean/wiping down, especially in winter on wet roads. Probably clean/lube the chain every second week or so, using a wet lube. I deal to things as they need dealing with. It is worth proactively keeping an eye on spoke tension, no need to obsess.

Turbo Owners -- What's your total mileage? [OFFICIAL MILEAGE THREAD]

19000km. This weekend (my bikes 2nd birthday) I am giving the bike a major overhaul including new bb, cranks, pedals and drive train. Amazingly brake pads still good as new after 17000km!

    Yes, so smooth and fast.

    4000 miles - 6400 km on Turbo S

I've had my Turbo S nearly 2 years and >16,000km (10,000 miles). I also review ebikes, so I have ridden most bikes available including Vado. It is no surprise to me that Specialized had intended to continue the Turbo S (but couldn't due to accidental death of the key engineer at GoSwiss which...

    The new turbo Vado 2017

Fairly sure it will come. It already exists for Levo, Turbo. And Vado isn't a million miles apart from a Levo. It's what they should have done in the first place rather than promising an entirely new app platform.

    The new turbo Vado 2017

The new mission control is nowhere in sight, and they've (rightly) been slammed for advertising something that they can't deliver. So I guess removing it from the description is the only way.

2012 Turbo S chainring casette and chain replacement

Narrow wide is best. You can use any 10sp chain presuming you are staying with 10sp on the back. Chainrings are hard to find in 48T though. I bought mine on eBay.

    Turbo X Tubeless ready?

Yes. Pretty much all modern double-wall rims are 'tubeless ready'. You need to get some 25mm Stans Yellow Tape, 45mm valves and sealant. It is indeed the tires more than the rims that make the difference in tubeless success. You can mount 50mm tires which I have done even with fenders. I have...

    Tubeless on the Vado 3.0

@JRA is right - the Stans yellow tape (or other equivalents) is better to use than Gorilla tape.
