    2016 Radwagon Chain Length

FYI, Its 146 links if anyone is interested. I had to buy 2 chains (116 links each) and connect them to make it work.

    Front suspension forks

I just recently put a suspension fork on my Radwagon. Its no different than putting it on a regular bike. I'm happy with the improved ride. I tried lowering the tire pressure before the change but that only helped so much and eventually cornering suffered.

    Radwagon with suspension fork

That was the first upgrade I did on the bike. I tried the NCX, but it made the bike too big every time the spring kicked in. I ended up putting a simple vertical suspension post along with a gel seat that had its own springs. While I don't really feel the bumps as much anymore, the kick...

    Radwagon with suspension fork

I finally decided to put a suspension fork on my Radwagon because the MUP that I take can get pretty rough. Sometimes I take an alternate route that is double the distance but I have to ride over some pretty rough wooden bridges. So I learned that a suspension fork raises the height of your...

frustrated rant: the more i learn the more i cant find an ebike

I have a 2016 Radwagon (steel frame/forks) and I commute all year round. I've been through heavy rains, sleet, 40 mph crosswinds across bridges, snow, 15 degree (F) temperatures, unplowed frozen trails, and one tropical storm (60 mph wind gusts). I probably shouldn't have been out during the...

    Recommendations Hitch Bike Rack

From what I've heard from my brother in law, its pretty straight forward to install. He installed ours in about 30 minutes (Class III -2 inch socket) on our SUV. We got ours at AutoAnything.com (Curtis hitch). I looked up the installation for the Prius and it involves attaching it to the...

Latest Modifications; Hello from Northern Virginia

I think if you want aero and comfort, you should probably be looking at TT bars. They allow you to rest your arms and stay aero at the same time. If you want to do very long rides with lots of positions, then you may want to look at butterfly bars.

Looking for a low maintenance commuter

My experience is just from my owning my bike for 30 years and not having to replace the chain. I have to lube it but that's about it. I just assume a bike chain vs belt is no different than a car's timing chain vs belt. My dad's is an auto mechanic and belts have to get changed every few...

    Recommendations Hitch Bike Rack

I have the Thule T2 XT 2 for carrying my e-bikes and its held up well. I do like the new Easy fold X2 models. They have a ramp that allows you to roll your e-bike to the rack. Both can hold wheels up to 5 inch wide I believe. My e-bikes are about 50 lbs each and lifting them onto the rack...

    24 inch to 20 inch

If you mean whether you can fit a 24 inch wheel on a frame designed for 20 inch, it depends on the tire width. A 24 inch bmx wheel + tire can have a wheel diameter ranging from 547 mm to 755 mm. A 20 inch bmx wheel + tire can have a wheel diameter ranging from 446 mm to 654 mm...

Mid drives vs Hub drives ???

Just recently had a flat on my front wheel which is on a geared hub. Just from seeing what can happen with front forks, the wheel had 2 grin torque arms one on each side. This is a 350 watt motor attached to a heavy duty steel fork w/o suspension. First thing that came to mind was, "what a...

Looking for a low maintenance commuter

I don't think a belt drive would be less maintenance than an chain. Over time, the rubber is going to dry up from the sun leading to cracking. Over a 5-7 year period, it will need to be replaced regardless of condition. Finding a replacement belt may be harder than finding a chain especially...

    Loose spokes?

I've had a similar problem with one of my road bikes. It turned out the rubber cap covering the rear hub (opposite the gears) was causing the squeak when you pedal. I removed, cleaned, and greased it and the problem went away. From my experience, a loose spoke has a more "tinny" sound as it...

    2018 RadPower Battery Alternative

Yep, its a different battery. No more plug and play with the Dolphin batteries on the 2018 models. The new prices aren't too bad for 14 ah. Not the best prices but certainly not the most expensive either.

    2018 RadPower Battery Alternative

I'm pretty sure that 2018 battery is the same as the Shark battery (Hailong-1 case?) found on Luna's site. Measure your battery and compare it to the Luna battery. One of the reasons why I like my 2016 Radwagon is that I can use batteries from other vendors. Dimensions are from the Luna...

My vote would be for the Rad City Step Thru ($1500). Max weight is 275 lb https://www.radpowerbikes.com/products/radcity-step-thru-electric-commuter-bike I've never had any problems with the motor and have put it through all weather conditions for the last 3 years. Currently, I have 4600+...

    Shengyi Motor / battery upgrade

I think its worth the upgrade. I have an 11.6 ah and 13.5 ah battery. For me, under 30 miles I'll use the 11.6 ah (now probably more like 10ah over 3 years and hundreds of recharging). Over 30 miles, I'll go with the 13.5 ah. With the larger battery, you don't have to charge it as much so...
