Sad news, my first bike with multiple gears was a 3-speed Raleigh in 1962, loved that bike. My first ebike was a 2015 Haibike Trekking Pro. I loved that bike too, and would probably still be riding it, if only I could get my leg over the crossbar.

Jesus. That's a lot. I hope some can figure a way to keep going. Some great bike companies there. I watch Alee on YT channel Cyclingabout. He's ridden a Koga with a Rohlhoff hub all over the world for years, is sponsored by them. But recently he did a video showing his new bike sponsor IDworx after Koga dropped him. I was surprised. Might have been budgets tightening in the run up to this.

It was more than just Koga hiring an online influencer, they also produced Alee's own handlebar design and he had input for the World Traveller bike he used extensively.

My 2016 Haibike Sduro Allmtn Plus with Yamaha motor was my second ebike. I still have it, although I am giving it to my son-in-law. I love the Yamaha motor with its instant torque. That old motor is stronger than any Bosch motor I have encountered, incuding the Bosch Cargo Line motor in my Yuba Spicy Curry AT. Sadly, Yamaha exited the US ebike market, though I understand Giant ebikes use Yamaha motors and calls them Sync-drive. And Haibike was one of the pioneers of mountain ebikes, introducing them in Europe in 2010 long before they made their appearance in the US.

It is programmed for the stronger low end. I think the maximum power of both motors could be the same.

I own an 85 Nm Vado 6.0 (Brose TF) and owned an 85 Nm Giant Trance E+ with a Yamaha motor. Indeed, you could do a wheelie on the Yamaha but the Trance was a way slower on a normal ride than the Vado (because the Trance was an e-MTB and Vado is a commuter e-bike indeed).

Besides... Ban me EBR if you like but I've always hated greedy Dutch businessmen. I have never been attracted to the brands owned by the Accel Group. As one past EBR member put it "Haibike is the Volkswagen of e-bikes"

The only brand I am even more disgusted with is Cube. Don't get me wrong: Cube e-bikes are strong, have big batteries and are pricewise attractive. Only these are pretty ugly. New Cube users tend to ride with the saddle ridiculously low and always in TURBO. I saw several such guys on my latest Warsaw ride... You see a guy effortlessly pedalling in the position of a sitting dog, his e-bike looks like a tank, and you know it is a Cube rider

Further sad news, the insolvency of Accell has proceeded to a full on bankruptcy, so there's now more likely to be a liquidation of assets instead of any saviours.

Reports: Accell Group insolvency escalated to bankruptcy

AMSTERDAM (BRAIN) — Dutch news sites are reporting that the Amsterdam district court has declared Accell Group bankrupt. The move follows the court's granting the company some protection from creditors last week.

Interestingly the Raleigh brand was sold in Canada some years ago and now adorns some cheap low/mid range bicycles sold through Canadian Tire.
