A 3 year old thread, but new ideas are always welcome.
In my case I wrecked two different handlebar mounted smartphones due to the heavy vibration from the rough trails I ride. In both cases, it damaged the cameras.
I now use bike computers, GPS and a smartwatch to get alerts from the phone, which stays in my pocket.
My story goes back before I bought an e-bike. My wife and I own ATVs and a UTV. Several years ago I started looking for a Garmin for it and bought a Garmin Zumo XT, which is a motorcycle GPS. It uses a 1 inch RAM mount.
The equipment is only one piece of the equation, though. You still need maps for off-road riding because Garmin City Navigator doesn't show trails. I ended up buy maps from VV Mapping. They work great, but only cover a handful of states.
When I bought my first e-bike, which is a Gazelle, I decided to install a RAM 1 inch ball mount and use my Garmin Zumo XT for e-biking, too. Once again, the still needed maps that showed paved bike paths away from roads. I eventually ran across

I have used all of the above and Garmin BBBike (Latin 1) is my go to for bicycle maps on my Garmin Zumo XT.
I did try a smart motorcycle screen recently and I returned it because the device was not well made and there are limitations using bike maps with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
I am now looking for a suitable smartphone mount that I can use on my ATV, UTV and e-bikes. Rather than use my "daily driver" Apple iPhone 15, I might just go with the Google Pixel 6 that is the phone I used before I bought my iPhone nearly two years ago. I have used other devices that had screens which weren't very bright. (My Garmin Zumo XT has 1000 NITS of brightness.)
The Google Pixel 6 features an OLED display with a standard manual maximum brightness of around 470 nits. When outdoors in bright sunlight, High Brightness Mode (HBM) activates automatically, temporarily boosting the screen to about 846 nits for improved visibility. After five minutes, the phone display will ramp down to about 470 nits, which is both phones’ maximum manual brightness when auto-brightness is disabled. So, even though I will give the Google Pixel 6 a try, I may end up using the Apple iPhone 15. I don't want the camera damaged, so I hope the vibration dampener minimizes the vibration transmitted to the mobile phone while riding.
