This rather nondescript bit of land in middle England is the ongoing site for Universal Studios UK.
I was going to mooch about a bit on the bike while visiting a friend nearby, but it hardly seems worth it.

With a 30mph westerly wind blowing it was the perfect day to head east and cross the Forth bridge, almost 30 miles of lovely tailwind! Of course I would be battling a very strong headwind on the way back but I would be using the well protected coast road with lots of shelter from the wind! I passed the Black Loch at Limerigg not long after leaving home and there were 4 very brave people in the water at 7.30am, you couldn't pay me to do that...well it would need to be a lot...
I headed east for Linlithgow and my average speed was close to 18mph as I arrived in town, thanks to that cracking tailwind and lots of descents! From there I continued east to Winchburgh where I stopped for this photo with the Pentland Hills in the background and Winchburgh in the foreground! They built a new cycle path here but it takes less than a minute from one end to the other...
I was now heading north to Newton where I stopped for this photo of the bridges!
It didn't take me long to reach the bridges with that tailwind!
I had the path over the bridge almost all to myself today, I think the wind was keeping people away...it wasn't too bad at this low point but it was blowing hard at the top....
I could see this thick black smoke from miles away, I discovered it was a fire at a farm near South Queensferry involving a oil tanker!

After crossing I went under the bridges (not literally
) for these photos of the Queensferry Crossing!I then headed west through Rosyth and turned off the main road to take the coast road through Limekilns, the locals always have these flowers brightening up the landscape!
I love this descent into Limekilns!
I managed to time it right to catch the high tide today!
I continued along the coast road to Kincardine Bridge where I turned SW towards Carronshore and south into Falkirk! Then west towards Bonnybridge, I used the cycle path to avoid the busy town and passed the Falkirk Wheel!
I stayed on the canal path all the way to Bonnybridge, these youngsters were having fun!
I then left the cycle path at Bonnybridge and headed west towards Allandale where I took the amazing back road to Walton which starts with a big climb! I had this view of the Campsie Hills at the top of the climb!
Some of the road is super smooth like this!
Some not so smooth...
This is a big descent and the camera makes it look like a climb...
After battling the strong headwind for well over 30 miles I decided to turn east towards Slamannan to enjoy the tailwind for 5 miles or so and took the back road towards Avonbridge, lots of climbing followed by this awesome descent!
It was time to turn SW towards Limerigg, into the wind again and it was really picking up now! I stopped for this stunning photo of the Ochil Hills on the road to Limerigg!
Some of the horses had their jackets on, rain was forecast for later in the day! I did catch some showers at times but nothing heavy thankfully!
From Limerigg I had the road to Caldercruix to contend with, which is very exposed and the wind was brutal all the way along it! Its such a great road though and has been resurfaced recently!
Just 4 miles to go now and I had judged my 2 batteries well and had just enough juice left for the final climbs to home! What a great day in blustery conditions, any day I get home dry is a good day...
The rain arrived about 30 minutes after I got home, nowhere near as bad as the forecast showed though...

The Long Return
We flew with Ryanair from Kerry Airport KIR to London Stansted STN first. We had a group of drunk elder people (I presume English) on the flight and hated them! How can an uncle speak for hours and get giggles of the group all the time?! I regret we didn't meet any turbulence; those people were standing during the flight and it was hard for a flight attendant to make them sit and fasten their belts for landing!
Then, it was a usual transfer from STN to Liverpool Street Station and then a bus ride to Old Kent Road in South London, a place I'm very much familiar with, and near to where @Brix lives.
The transfer from a sparsely populated country of Ireland to a nine million people city was shocking but it was a positive shock. Fancy yourself at 10:30 pm being hungry. A few steps from the hotel and you are getting a pizza right from the oven, and you have four sizes to choose from! Or, the morning. A short walk and you land in a "cafe", or a breakfast place. A discussion with the English owner about the options for Full English Breakfast; chatting about a lot of things. She even opened a door to the concealed smoking room and treated me with a cig! How not to love London?
Luton, the fourth of London airports has greatly improved. I took a bus then a fast train; finally, there was a DART shuttle train between the train station and the airport. Check-in? Very fast! TSA? Express speed! (There were times when I hated Luton!) Took a Wizzair flight to Warsaw Chopin. Then, I felt at home. I could buy my special and hard to get cigarettes in WAW! My private taxi driver was waiting... So I am at home now
P.S. I didn't drive a car for some two years now. Had to drive a car in left-hand traffic and a mountainous country. No incident, not even a scratch on the car. Even Brix told me my driving seems to have improved since the last Ireland's stay two years ago!
P.S. 2. Or, when you tell your Polish taxi driver he seemed to turn into a wrong lane... (@Chargeride!)

Let's see, average climb rate = 3300 / 26 = 127 ft/mi. You have every right to be completely knackered.
Think I see Dan in black, standing in the grass roughly between the tree at the right edge of the photo and the nearest cliff. Appears to be waving to the camera. Could be on or near a trail.
Given your previously reported exploits with Dan, couldn't help wondering what he was up to over there. Maybe he found your drone.

Today I rode 25 miles, with about 2600ft of elevation gain. With a couple 15% sections. I am working my way up to a self-supported 60 miler....Two 30 mile routes, with a break in the middle. This was one of the possible routes. The start today, is a 10 minute drive from my house. I hit a bit of dirt on the way back. I still have to train some more. Also, I am trying to figure out my battery range. I know I can find flatter routes, but I’d prefer some climbing.
At the Crystal Springs reservoir dam bridge, I came across two riders on bikes, they are locals and we chatted a bit, I thought they were on a long haul ride with their racks and bags, but they were just local. They didn’t think my Creo was an eBike. Haha. Both of their bikes were flat bar, one was step through I think. But it was funny, they both wanted to check out how heavy my bike was! Two 60+ ladies. Gotta love it!
Then, at the dam, I saw the new landmark marker for the first time. Portola Expedition Camp 8, Laguna Grande. And also the new signage. I interned as an exhibit designer at the NYS Museum in ALBm, so I have an appreciation for these, along with my curiosity for local Bay Area history.
