Dinosaur season returns!
Just as the swallows return to San Juan Capistrano each March, so the dinosaurs now return to the South Carlsbad State Beach Campground store each April.

We ran across them at the end of a 24 mi coast ride to Oceanside harbor and back. Just a few of the animatronic species...

With no T-rex this year, this guy's the badass-in-chief.

The Carnival dancers in Rio have nothin' on this one. Sorry about the lighting.

If you think getting chased by dogs is bad, think what cycling would be like if that Chixulub asteroid hadn't come along.

The Camp Store area was packed with families with kids on this beautiful Thursday afternoon — many probably local. (That's their evil scheme, of course.) We found a quiet table away from the chaos to enjoy draft kombuchas and chips before heading home.

Friday I felt like carp, but decided to quickly head out to the grocery store to return an item that had been recalled. Uncomfortable... weather was iffy and only 10C. Rained on my way back.
Yesterday I felt much better and the weather was stellar pushing 15C with sunshine.
Off to the greenway...

You need a keen eye to see the water line. Must be at least 1.5kms out...



Water break, and it was warm enough to ditch my jacket!



On my way back a bunch of us had to wait. Massive amounts of coal heading to Roberts Bank...





Great fun and happily left my heated vest and gloves at home... finally!

The perfect cycling fuel
Today's 20 mi coast ride with neighbor DB had just one objective — locally famous VJ Donuts in Cardiff. Quite a let-down when donut fancier DB rolled up to the CLOSED sign for Easter Sunday.

So we tried the nearby Bump coffee stand. Excellent coffee, but surprisingly, only one sweet — salted chocolate chip cookies. And boy, were they good!

A few bites in, I had a revelation: I'd just found the perfect cycling fuel — lots of carbs with some fat and electrolites. So naturally, I had two.

Turns out, there's another Bumps on the Coast Highway just south of home. I see many salted chocolate chip cookies in my future.

Squeaked in an other short ride yesterday after grocery shopping to gather a couple of things I needed at a couple of different stores.
The weather was nice enough at 16C that I didn't bother with a jacket at all. Gorgeous out!





Under the bridge is a little noisy...

The boys of summer are back. The batter cracked a single which resulted in a RBI...
